LONDON, UK: Cameron Diaz, who announced her retirement from acting four years ago, is finally ‘back in action’ as she was spotted on the sets of her upcoming movie starring Jamie Foxx. Earlier in June, Netflix announced their new project ‘Back In Action’, which is touted to be a rom-com flick.

The 50-year-old actress last worked in a movie back in 2014 before she finally decided to star opposite her long-time friend in the Netflix flick. The actors were seen together shooting at the Thames on Thursday night, December 22, 2022.

'Retired' Cameron Diaz set for comeback with Jamie Foxx, fans say it has to be 'good omen'

In 2018, the ‘Bad Teacher’ star officially hung her boots explaining she wanted to devote more time to herself and her husband Benji Madden, 43. The next year she welcomed their daughter Raddix, and once again emphasized that she "couldn't imagine" leaving her child to embark on 14-hour shoots. Apparently, Foxx was able to convince Diaz to come out of her retirement with some help. Foxx brought in footballer Tom Brady to offer some advice to the ‘Knight and Day’ actress, reports Daily Mail.

After that, the 44-year-old star decided to put an end to her retirement. During a call, Diaz expressed the turmoil she was going through while deciding on her return to the big screen, “I'm so anxious right now, I'm pacing the room...I don't know how to do this, you know?” Brady told Diaz on call, “I was talking to Jamie and he said you needed a few tips on how to un-retire. I'm relatively successful at un-retiring.”

Foxx in his message on Twitter called Diaz ‘GOAT’, and said, "Cameron I hope you aren't mad I recorded this, but no turning back now. Had to call in the GOAT to bring back another GOAT."

‘The Mask’ actress shared the voice call to her Instagram story with a message, “Jamie Foxx, only you could get me back in action!!! I can't frickin wait, it's gonna be a blast!”

There were also reports of the remake of 2006 blockbuster ‘The Holiday’ starring Cameron Diaz, but her co-star Kate Winslet from the movie played it down. The ‘Titanic’ star told People, “I read something about that, but it’s the first I’ve heard of it. I promise you not an agent or a representative or anyone from the first one around has had any conversation with me about that. Hand on heart, that’s never come up.”

‘Back In Action’ was announced in June and is being directed by Seth Gordon of Horrible Bosses’ fame. The movie is written by 'Neighbors' screenwriter Brendan O’Brien.
