'Cable Girls' Season 5 Part 1: Release date, plot, cast and all you need to know about the Spanish period drama's final season
'Cable Girls', also known as 'Las Chicas del Cable', was Netflix's first Spanish original. With the first season set in the 1920s, the show told the empowering story of five young women who were working as the titular cable girls trying to set up independent lives.
Over the past four seasons, the show moved from the 1920s to the 1930s, chronicling political events in Spain of the era while also making the characters deal with the drama and tension in their lives.
Release date
The first part of Season 5 will be released on February 14th, 2020.
Plot
The fifth season will be set amidst the Spanish Civil War which took place between 1936 and 1939. At the end of Season 4, Ángeles was shot to death. Her friends Carlota and Oscar fled Madrid after Carlota was framed for the murder of a politician. Meanwhile, Lidia (formerly Alba) tired of Carlos's inability to stand up to his mother Dona Carmen — who in Season 4 endangered the life of their child — goes to America with Francisco, her childhood sweetheart.
In Season 5, it will be Angeles's daughter who reunites the friends in Spain.
