Sarah Michelle Geller reveals ‘Ready Or Not 2’ co-star had role in axed ‘Buffy’ reboot: ‘She was supposed to…’
Hulu's canceled reboot of the iconic 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' series continues to make the headlines. After news broke that the streamer was shelving the show, the series star, Sarah Michelle Gellar, had a major update for fans, and it involves her 'Ready or Not 2: Here I Come' co-star. The actress has been in the spotlight since announcing the cancellation, and now has a recent update.
Speaking on BBC Radio 2, she told host Scott Mills that co-star Kathryn Newton would have been one of the stars in the reboot. "You want a scoop that no one knows; that no-one's ever heard? You know who was supposed to be in the Buffy reboot but was not available and was going to be brought in later? But she's one of the few who has read it? She might be sitting next to me!" Both Gellar and Newton confirmed the news. "That is an exclusive, we've never said it! She was supposed to be in the pilot, and the dates in the end didn't work. So it was gonna be later in the show. But there you go."
In her previous IG post, Gellar expressed her gratitude for being part of a hit show. "I want to thank Chloe Zhao because I never thought I would find myself back in Buffy's stylish, yet affordable boots. And thanks to Chloe, I was reminded how much I love her, and how much she means not only to me but to all of you. And this doesn't change any of that. And I promise if the apocalypse actually comes... You can still beep me." Per Variety, the show was also set to star Faly Rakotohavana as Hugo, Ava Jean as Larkin, Sarah Bock as Gracie, Daniel di Tomasso as Abe, and Jack Cutmore-Scott as Mr. Burke. ora Zuckerman and Lila Zuckerman were set to write, showrun, and executive produce.
Recent speculations suggest that Netflix might take control of the reboot's revival after the streamer followed the show's page on X. While there have been no confirmations, the buzz is that Hulu's loss might be Netflix's gain. In the meantime, 'Ready or Not 2: Here I Come' is currently running in cinemas.
