BTS replaces 'Map of the Soul: 7' with 'BE' at No 1 on Billboard, ARMY say it's 'BTS vs BTS'

Leave it to BTS to keep breaking their own records. Till last week, ARMY and BTS were celebrating Butter’s hold on the #1 spot on Billboard Hot 100 for 9 weeks. BTS has also stayed on the top spot for 10 weeks straight with ‘Permission to Dance’ interrupting ‘Butter’ streak. While this week was disappointing for some fans as BTS slipped to #4 with ‘Butter’, the group has given us another reason to celebrate.

On August 9, it was revealed that ‘Butter’ was still at #1 on the Digital Song Sales chart for the 11th week. It is the first BTS song to achieve this milestone since the release of ‘Dynamite’ in August 2020. Additionally, they’ve also made waves on other Billboard charts. As of this week, the album ‘BE’ has grabbed the #1 spot on Billboard’s World Albums chart. It is their fifth Korean album that was actually released in November 2020.

BTS vs BTS

Full of inspirational tracks, ‘BE’ caused a stir among ARMY as BTS chose to show an honest side to them instead of their usual gritty and fierce comebacks. Each and every track spoke to fans and helped them cope with their individual struggles which touched ARMY as it felt like the album was specially curated for them. They showed their gratitude by helping the album break and make records all over the world. ‘BE’ topped several charts and continues to do so.

Last week, their February 2020 release, ‘Map Of The Soul: 7’ was at #1 on Billboard World Albums chart since the third week of July 2021. It has been on the chart for 75 weeks and topped at #1 non-consecutively for 34 weeks. And now it has again given up its spot to ‘BE’, which was at #5 last week. ‘BE’ has been on the chart for 37 weeks out which it has been at the #1 spot for 21 weeks. Additionally, ARMY are also celebrating the fact that ‘Butter’ is the fifth longest-charting song by a K-pop act on the Hot 100 chart by staying on the chart for 11 weeks straight.

'You know it'

And to cheer up other fans who were disappointed about ‘Butter’ losing the #1 spot, ARMY trended ‘BTS vs BTS’ with tweets like, “Bts vs bts here baby you know it !” and “Here we go it's BTS vs BTS as Always.” Another fan hilariously added, “My fave albums treating World Albums chart as a playground.” Fans also couldn’t help but notice that BTS got this milestone with ‘BE’ which is wholly made by the members, “BTS literally has no competition. they got a self directed album dominating.”
