Despite the success of their recent releases and their undeniable international fame, Korean megastars BTS received no nominations at the 62nd Grammy Awards leaving their fans, who call themselves Army, disappointed and angered.

The K-pop group's fans received a glimmer of hope when it was announced that BTS would still perform at the show as part of Lil Nas X's performance for 'Old Town Road' However, rehearsal photos and videos revealed that BTS were part of a very small segment of the performance, leading fans to trend #BTSdeservesbetter across social media.

Fans were outraged that BTS were being treated like 'backup dancers', tweeting: "So after all of this hardwork they only get a damn sideact are yall serious???"

Some fans called out the Grammys for trying to use BTS to garner views and take attention away from their recent controversies. Others simply highlighted the popularity of the group with tweets like "BTS don’t need the Grammys, the Grammys need BTS".

Fans were soon tweeting about boycotting the Grammys entirely, threatening to not tune in and refusing to lend their viewership to a show they felt insulted their idols. One user tweeted, "This is the most embarrassing thing I’ve ever seen. imagine how humiliated they must be ?? they work their asses of for this ???? this so rude and disrespectful! I am so not gonna watch the Grammys this year."

The BTS Army also began trending a variety of hashtags, some in praise of BTS and others sending a variety of expletives the Grammys way. Many tweeted the group's company BigHit Entertainment demanding they refuse to allow BTS to perform at an event that treated them as a 'side act'.

However, with the news of Kobe Bryant and his daughter's deaths this morning, BTS fans have taken a step back from tweeting and have instead requested that ARMYs all over the world engage in a more respectful protest and not trend hashtags that target the Grammys.

Instead, BTS fans hope to engage in positively cheering BTS on for their upcoming performance on 'The Late Late Show With James Corden' on January 28th where they will perform their latest single 'Black Swan' live for the first time since its release.
