BTS confirms Nicki Minaj to feature on an alternate version of new single 'Idol'
After rumors surfaced around the possible collaboration, BTS' record label has now confirmed that Minaj will feature on an alternate version of 'Idol'
Just a couple of hours prior to the release of K-pop sensations BTS' new song 'Idol', the group's label, Big Hit Entertainment announced that an alternate version of the single would soon follow, featuring none other than the recent 'Queen' of Twitterstorms, Nicki Minaj.
'Idol' is the lead track on BTS’ highly-anticipated album 'Love Yourself: Answer.' As Billboard points out, while the alternate Nicki Minaj version will be available digitally, it is not featured on the physical album, which will include the original version of the single featuring the K-pop septet on its own.
According to an article published in the Seoul Economic Daily, BTS reached out to the Queen rapper after completing the production of 'Love Yourself: Answer', and the 'Chun Li' rapper was more happy to accept their offer to appear as a featured singer.
Rumors of the collaboration began earlier this week on Wednesday when a video of someone using Shazam on the teaser video for BTS’ 'Idol' first appeared on social media. Shazam identified the song as 'Idol' feat. Nicki Minaj. Later that day, Minaj “liked” some related tweets, adding further fuel to the fire. The compilation album 'Love Yourself: Answer' is the final part of BTS’ Love Yourself series, and will feature both new music and songs featured on September’s 'Love Yourself: Her' and May's 'Love Yourself: Tear.'
We'll let you know as soon as the Nicki Minaj collab drops. Meanwhile, check out the tightly-choreographed music video for BTS' original 'Idol' below:
