Bruce Willis ‘determined to stay coherent' for future grandchild after daughter Rumer announces pregnancy
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Hollywood veteran Bruce Willis has reportedly discovered a new will to live thanks to the cheerful news that he will soon become a grandfather.
The 67-year-old star’s oldest daughter Rumer Willis, whom he shares with ex-wife Demi Moore, recently announced that she is expecting her first child with her musician boyfriend Derek Richard Thomas. A source close to the ‘Die Hard’ star told Radar Online that Rumer's baby on board has put him over the moon and left him striving to bond with his grandchild as his battle with vicious aphasia continues. "He's determined to stay coherent and lucid for as long as possible so his grandchild can have some happy memories of a grandfather who was present and active in his or her life," the source stated.

The source also added that Bruce, who is in a race against time, is adamant that Rumer’s baby will receive the greatest care he could offer. “Bruce has never backed away from a challenge. He's dead-set that this new baby is going to get the best he has to offer," the source tipped. The announcement from Rumer came days after it was revealed that Willis’ health is growing worse. "It seems he's slipping further away from them, and it breaks their heart," another insider told Radar. "It's been painful to see him deteriorate. The older girls miss the old Bruce — the one who used to tease them about their boyfriends and give them unsolicited advice."
Bruce’s relatives, including his wife Emma, ex-wife Demi Moore, 59, and five daughters Rumer, 34, Scout, 31, Tallulah, 28, Mabel Ray, 10, and Evelyn, eight, issued a joint statement via Instagram on March 30, 2022, announcing his aphasia diagnosis. "The veteran actor has been experiencing some health issues and has recently been diagnosed with aphasia, which is impacting his cognitive abilities,” the statement read.
The family also announced the legend's retirement. “As a result of this and with much consideration, Bruce is stepping away from the career that has meant so much to him. This is a challenging time for our family and we are so appreciative of your continued love, compassion, and support," they added.
Last month, it was reported that the star revised his will just days before his diagnosis. His $250 million fortune will now be shared among all his family members, including the three daughters he shares with former partner Demi Moore, as well as his current spouse and their children.
