Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ is undoubtedly one of the best shows out there and has been treating fans with so many LOL moments since its inception. The show was always produced by NBC and it is good that the show is returning to its original network for the final season. However, it was not easy for the makers and the network to work on the upcoming season.

This will be the show’s first season after the tragic death of George Floyd and the Black Lives Matter movement. People of the US are angry with the police departments and the makers had to try and fit in that angle in the upcoming edition as well. It was widely reported that the writers of the show threw all the previous written scripts for Season 8 and started fresh because of the aforementioned scenarios.

All in all, it will be interesting to see how they manage to bring such sensitive matters into a comedy show. Even when the show will focus on such serious issues, fans won’t be disappointed because there will be a lot of laughter in the final season as well.

Release date and how to watch

The eighth and final season of ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ will be premiering exclusively on NBC on Thursday, August 12. According to the network, the final season will be airing at 8 pm EST on the network. You can watch the series on NBC or you can stream NBC Live on Hulu + Live TV, YouTube TV, FuboTV, and AT&T TV.

Plot

The discussion went on for a long time as to how to take the series forward. The makers had their scripts ready and were set to shoot. However, the death of George Floyd and the BLM movement changed everything. So, one of the plotlines for the upcoming season would be on those matters and how they can mix it with funny moments as well.

Cast

All the original cast members are returning for the eighth and final season. Andy Samberg will reprise the role of Detective Jake Peralta while Melissa Fumero will be back as Amy Santiago. Samberg has been an integral part of the show since its inception and is one of the main reasons why people love the series.

The actor recently revealed that it will be hard for the writers to move forward with the series with all that has happened in the previous 1 or 2 years. He told People, “We’re taking a step back, and the writers are all rethinking how we’re going to move forward, as well as the cast. We’re all in touch and kind of discussing how you make a comedy show about police right now, and if we can find a way of doing that that we all feel morally okay about.”



 

The other actors making a comeback are Terry Crews (Terry Jeffords), Stephanie Beatriz (Rosa Diaz), Andre Braugher (Captain Raymond Holt), Joel McKinnon Miller (Detective Scully) andDirk Blocker (Det. Hitchcock).

Creators

The police procedural comedy show is created by Dan Goor and Michael Schur. Goor is known for producing shows such as ‘Parks and Recreation’ and ‘The Good Place’ while Schur has produced projects such as ‘The Office’, ‘The Comeback’, ‘Sunnyside’ and ‘Master of None’. Marshall Boone, Norm Hiscock, Matt Novella, Andy Samberg, Neil Campbell, Matt Lawton, Cortney Carrillo, Carol Kolb, Phil Augusta Jackson, Sierra Ornelas Miller, Richard H Prince, Evan Susser, and Van Robichaux are the producers on the show.

Meanwhile, Goor, Schur, David Miner, Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, Luke Del Tredici, and David Phillips serve as executive producers.
