This article contains spoilers for Season 7 Episodes 1 and 2

The two-episode big Season 7 premiere of 'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' gifted fans with more than just Jake Peralta bossing Ray Holt. While there was a clear power struggle between the two, the first episode also gave us the signature bromance between Jake and Charles Boyle with a highly evolving Amy Santiago and Rosa Diaz friendship that could give the buddy-cops a run for their money.

But above all, what fans really seemed to enjoy is the new captain, Julie Kim (Nicole Bilderback), a first of its kind since we never think anything could ever replace Holt.

After a shocking demotion, ex-captain Holt (Andre Braugher) still sticking around the nine-nine might be a consolation. At least he's not AWOL like a certain Gina Linetti, but to see him sulking and passive-aggressively trying to bad mouth the new captain is hilarious. And speaking of the new captain — think an Asian-American Amy that Holt really, really dislikes.

Captain Kim is pretty much awesome. She is the first Asian-American female officer of the NYPD and even though Jake believes 'that woman is a demon' sent by the sinister Madeline Wunch to take down the nine-nine, she is cool because she builds skate parks in her free time and immediately invites the precinct to a party at her place right after meeting with them one on one.

Captain Kim takes an interest in Terry's kids, shares Amy's intense organizational principles, and even calls Charles a badass. Not just that, she offers Jake a job to team up with the FBI but it looks like he is too loyal to Holt to take it up. We feel you, Jake, we do. But the entire fandom also thinks Captain Kim is pretty much the only captain to have survived the likeability meter as Holt's replacement.

Sadly, Captain Kim's stint in the nine-nine was short-lived. She leaves at the end of the episode, but not before she manages to please fans who are heartbroken to see her go.

Taking to Twitter, fans expressed their shock and sadness, saying, "Petition to get captain Kim BACK." But offering solace, another fan wrote: "I thought it was a good idea to give them a really good captain because the storyline of bad captains was already a huge part of the show. Sad that Capt Kim is leaving but excited to see what they think of next!"

A third fan, however, pointed out: "Oh no! Only one episode with Asian American female captain Julie Kim?"

'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' Season 7 airs on Thursdays at 8 pm only on NBC.
