Little did  Gene Colder (Brian Geraghty) know that the smell of tar would result in two women taking a swing at him. One could always tell there was something eerie about this police officer. Why else would Lucretia Colder (Christine Woods) be whatever the batshit crazy that she is?

Following Episode 8 of 'Briarpatch', it's easy to steer through Lucretia's insanity. The latest installment has Colder written all over it, as he takes center stage going from being a 'nerd' to a bomber.

Though the teaser prepared us for a Brattle Clyde (Alan Cumming) — Jake Spivey (Jay R. Ferguson) face-off, which however wasn't disappointing, Colder went on to become the baddest cop Saint Bonifacio could have hosted, despite being the breeding ground for crime.

On watching Colder's ultimate transformation in the latest episode, one fan noted on Twitter, "Colder was one of my early suspects. I thought he might be too much of a nerd to be a bomber, but I guess you can be both. #Briarpatch."

It only took a few minutes for this character to go from being the sympathetic husband and mourning fiance to a merciless killer and fans are finding it creepy.

Meanwhile, a few said how he deserved those punches from Allegra Dill (Rosario Dawson) and Eve Raytek (Kim Dickens). Another fan who seems to have developed an extreme dislike for the cop owing to the flip in his character wrote, "How does feel to get punched by two women in one night, Gene?"

"Gene just can't catch a f**king break! #Briarpatch," said another fan.

A few also discussed the next most interesting aspect of the latest episode. Clyde and Jake meeting at their school reunion. However, fans feel the show treated a serious scenario in a rather lighthearted way.

"There's way too much levity in this episode. You just have the feeling that something terrible is about to happen. Jake is too excited for this. #Briarpatch."

'Briarpatch' airs on Mondays on USA Network.
