PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA: Actor Brendan Fraser had a cute date to the Palm Springs Film Festival screening of his new movie ‘The Whale’ and it was his pet dog, Yorkie! The actor, who came to the event on Thursday, January 5, had showed up at peace with himself as he calmly strode into the premises with his pet in hand. This appearance comes soon after he had confirmed that he was open to be reprising his role as Rick O’Connell in the 'The Mummy' film franchise.

The pet apparently belongs to the actor’s girlfriend Jeanne Moore, who has been a stable source of support for the actor as he made a comeback to Hollywood with a bang, what came with whispers of him being a frontrunner for an Academy Award becoming louder. The actor was previously married to Afton Smith for 10 years between 1998 and 2008. The pair share three children- Griffin, Holden and Leland.

Brendan Fraser says he 'couldn't remember' things due to 'starvation' during 'George of the Jungle'

Daily Mail reported that the actor wore casual attire for the day out with his pooch. He wore a pair of blue jeans, a brown baseball cap and a green bomber jacket for the rainy day. The pooch also had its own cute pink harness to show off. We need to give a special mention to the fact that Fraser may just be holding not just his girlfriend’s pet, but also an Oscar as his recent release, ‘The Whale,’ has dominated nomination conversations ever since its release. The movie has attracted Fraser the best reviews of his career.

His comeback is after a series of many years out of the industry with many personal and professional struggles and a serious bout of depression just made things worse. In an interview with GQ, he spoke about how he now understands other people’s feelings and how he hopes to help. Fraser said, “I can spot someone across the room who I know has something to say, something to share, who has had something that happened…someone hurt them.”

Fraser added that people come up to him and "divulge their secrets," following which he said he holds their hand and encourages them to ask for help. “I do want them to know…if they admire or esteem me for whatever special reason, that if that kind of thing had happened to me, it could happen to anyone too. And we’re all just…we’re all just people,” he added.

Fraser also seems quite happy and welcomed again with the responses he received for his comeback role. He revealed that people often said, “‘Welcome back. Good that you’re back. I’m glad to see you back.’ And I say thank you. And some of them even go, ‘We’ve missed you. Where have you been?’ You know, like almost letting me know that I disappointed them. And the first thing out of my mouth is ‘I was never that far away.’”
