'It was a breath of fresh air'

The official logline of the movie from Netflix reads, "After finding a ghost with a murky past haunting their new house, a family becomes internet sensations โ€” and the targets of a shadowy government agency." After the release of 'We Have a Ghost', fans took to the internet to express their love for the movie, with many of them praising the family-friendly and hilarious film adaptation. One fan, who obviously liked the humor of the movie, commented, "Every once in a while Netflix produces original content that truly makes the subscription worthwhile. We Have a Ghost is hilarious. #ErnestChallenge."

Another fan chimed in and expressed love for the movie by commenting, "Just watched We Have a Ghost on @netflix and I friggin loved it!! Not very often I can say that much anymore. @creetureshow". Another fan who loved the movie commented, "Oh man I love We Have a Ghost." Another fan expressed their love for the movie by saying, "Just watched a new movie โ€œWe have a ghost.โ€ It was a bit preposterous maybe. But actually a good movie. A black cast with no racial implications. No forced subliminal multiculturalism. It was a breath of fresh air. Unusual in this day and age."

Fans 'didnโ€™t expect to sob at the end'

'We Have a Ghost' also has a deeper emotional layer, along with the one-liners and jokes. Particularly, the emotional climax of the movie is pretty unexpected. One fan noted the bitter-sweet climactic moment of the movie and added, "fully didnโ€™t expect to sob at the end of we have a ghost." One fan loved the balance of humor and emotion in the movie and added, "We Have a Ghost managed to be funny and incredibly sad at the same time. David Harbour only utters one word during the whole movie, and yet managed to make me cry. Brilliant actor. Loved it. #WeHaveAGhost #Netflix."

Another fan said the nostalgic element sealed the deal for them while watching the movie, tweeting, "WE HAVE A GHOST is like 40mins too long but itโ€™s cute. Itโ€™s definitely the kind of movie that would have killed on Disney Channel in the late 90s/early 00s. They donโ€™t make these anymore." One fan talked about the director of the movie and shared the emotional rollercoaster ride they had while watching the movie, writing, "WE HAVE A GHOST does that Chris Landon thing where he takes a genre premise, subverts it, makes it hilarious, and then you cry your eyes out. David Harbour, so often crushing dialogue, here gives one of the great silent performances (of the sound era, at any rate). #WeHaveAGhost."
