Being a father changed Bradley Cooper's life
In a June 2022 appearance on the 'SmartLess' podcast, Cooper noted, "Being a father has changed my life in so many ways. Everything changed. Every single thing is shaded by, or brought into glorious colors, by the fact that I get to be a father to a wonderful human being." According to the single father, experiencing exhilarating "moments" such as being on set, making a "breakthrough with a script," or "in the editing room" is as enjoyable as spending time with his daughter regularly. "Not spinning it, that. That's a simple fact," the Oscar nominee added.
Cooper told in an interview, "I just want her to feel loved." Cooper said he wants Lea to grow up in the same environment as he did. The Pennsylvania native once told Oprah Winfrey that his daughter reminds him of his father, Charles, who died tragically of lung cancer in 2011. "I frequently see my father in her", Cooper said, adding that there are occasions when Lea "looks just like" his father, which pushes him to ask, "Dad?" According to the 'Limitless' star, his daughter restored his sense of playfulness as he can now play with toys "all day long" without feeling "strange" about it, and he can also watch "cartoons endlessly" without minding his own business, as per People.
Cooper and his mother share the same roof
The 'A Star is Born' actor and his mother shared a home for a sizable amount of his adult life after his father's death because they "need each other." Cooper's father tragically died in 2011 just five months after the actor moved in following a lengthy battle with lung cancer. The loss of her husband had a profound impact on his mother, Gloria Campano, who had a strong relationship with him.
Although Cooper and his family have always been very close, Cooper invited his mother to move into his Los Angeles house. "Right now, two years after my father’s death, this is where we are. My family is very close, and my dad dying was brutal for all of us. It was a schism, and its aftershock has not stopped. And we need each other. So here we are. But don’t get me wrong. It’s not without complications. It’s not like I live in a compound and she’s in the guesthouse. No. She’s in the next room," Cooper said in an interview with the LA Times in 2013. He added, "But here’s the thing: She’s a cool chick. We can hang, and she can roll with the punches. If that wasn’t the case, there’s no way."
