Cooper and Esposito began dating in February 2006. The 47-year-old actor proposed to her in October 2006 and they tied the knot in the South of France in December of the same year. However, the marriage couldn't last more than 4 months and Esposito filed for divorce due to irreconcilable differences. A rep for the actress, as revealed by People, said, "Jennifer Esposito has filed for divorce. She asks that you respect her privacy at this time." On the other hand, a rep for Cooper said, "The divorce was mutual and they’ve been separated for quite a while.” Esposito released her memoir 'Jennifer’s Way: My Journey with Celiac Disease — What Doctors Don’t Tell You and How You Can Learn to Live Again' in 2014 explaining Cooper's dark side. Zellweger and Cooper met on the set of 'Case 39' in 2006 but the pair did not begin dating until 2009. Zellweger spent the 2009 holiday season with Cooper and his family. They were even spotted house hunting in 2010 and eventually moved into a $4.7 million home together in Pacific Palisades in California. So, why did they call it quits? This was due to Cooper's career ambitions. Some sources close to Us Weekly said that Cooper "worked really hard to get into leading man status," and that "Renee had to take a backseat," and "traveled with him to make it work." Another source said, "She's accomplished a lot of her professional goals. So Renee took some time out to be a great girlfriend and see if this is what it took to make a relationship work.
