OWENSVILLE, INDIANA: 'Boy Meets World' star Ben Savage announced that he is engaged to his girlfriend Tessa Angermeier on Wednesday, January 11. The former child star took to his Instagram to share a sweet photo of the couple posing near a scenic pond in Owensville, Indiana with a giant diamond ring on Angermeier's left hand placed on his shoulder. "The best is yet to come," Savage, 42, captioned the post.
While the actor who played the hit role of Cory Matthews did not specify that he popped the question, his family and friends brimmed the comments sections with messages of love including a shout-out from his brother Fred Savage’s co-star on ‘The Wonder Years’ Danica McKellar. August Maturo, Arielle Kebbel, Kourtney Turner, and other stars also congratulated Savage and left heart emojis in the comments. His fans, on the other hand, were innovative with their congratulatory responses. "Boy Meets Marriage," wrote a fan. "Wait that’s not Topanga!!" read another fan comment. Savage has reportedly been very private about his personal life and has chosen to keep it away from the limelight. Much like that, the majority of his romance with Angermeier was kept under a veil.
The duo was reportedly in California to celebrate Christmas together before heading out to Indiana shortly after. It is likely that the actor posed the question during the holiday weekend. “Tis the season,” Savage captioned a selfie of the pair after loading a Christmas tree on top of their car. “Hope you had the hap hap happiest Christmas,” he wrote alongside a picture shared two weeks later.
Savage starred as Cory in ABC’s TGIF sitcom 'Boy Meets World'. The series premiered in September 1993 and released its last episode on May 5, 2000. After the series ended, Savage took a break from television work and focused entirely on refining himself as an actor on stage and on the silver screen. After a short hiatus from acting, he is back in the business with his most recent role being in the television movie 'Girl in the Shed: The Kidnapping of Abby Hernandez'.
He reprised his iconic role in the subsequent spinoff, 'Girl Meets World', 14 years later. “It began to make sense that this show was not going to just be Boy Meets World revisited — that this show was going to be something different,” Savage told TIME in 2014. “It was going to be Boy Meets World for a brand-new generation of kids. I think some of our fans — at least the people that grew up with Boy Meets World — are expecting it to be Boy Meets World where Boy Meets World left off. But really, this show is aimed at younger kids and it’s on the Disney channel, and it’s hopefully going to influence a new generation of kids.”
