MALIBU, CALIFORNIA: Rumors that 76-year-old Cher got engaged to her 36-year-old sweetheart over the Christmas holidays sent fans of the music legend into a tizzy. On Christmas morning, Alexander "AE" Edwards, the music icon's new love, was seen holding a diamond engagement ring in a new photo Cher shared on Twitter.

Cher wrote in the caption of her Twitter post that reads, "THERE R NO WORDS, ALEXANDER, A.E" A stunning ring with a sizable teardrop-shaped center diamond encircled by a band of small diamonds was tucked in a black velvet jewelry box. The box was being held by AE, a music executive, who had two fingers with black lacquer flames painted on them.

Cher's fans started wondering about the ring's significance and whether nuptials were in the near future as soon as they saw the post. One user tweeted, "Did he propose?" Another user wrote, "Congratulations grab happiness with both hands, but have a pre nup too." Another person quoted, "Oh well hello !!! CONGRATS Queen!!!!!" One user wrote, "@cherHow about “YES” to whatever bro asking… lol." One wrote, "I’m truly happy for you, the ring is absolutely stunning! In retaliation, the singer of Believe just reposted the same picture with a new, puzzling text an hour later. She attempted to put an end to the engagement rumors by saying, "I posted this cause his nails are so cool," but she was unsuccessful.

The enigmatic ring was revealed after sources recently informed RadarOnline that the superstar was head over heels for AE and was ready to be married. "Cher is head over heels in love," the insider said. "She knows she doesn't have much time left anymore to find 'the one' and after two failed marriages and countless disastrous boyfriends, this could be her LAST chance and she isn't going to let it pass her by." They added, "Of course, her friends are worried. Whenever there is a 40-year-old and $400 million gap between two people, you have concerns!"
