Bon Jovi's founding member and bassist, Alec John Such, passed away at the age of 70. The band collectively announced the sad news on Sunday, June 5, on their social media to the despair of many fans. Alec was associated with the band when they released albums like 'Slippery When Wet' (1986) and 'New Jersey' (1988). Both the collectives topped Billboard 200 and Alec remained with the band until 1994, before being replaced by bassist Hugh McDonald. The news of his demise made its way out via Variety.

Alec was a legend in himself and he got his due as he got inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame by Howard Stern in 2018 alongside Jon Bon Jovi, David Bryan, Hugh McDonald, Richie Sambora, and Tico Torres. The group's statement read, "Alec, you will be missed. We are heartbroken to hear the news of the passing of our dear friend Alec John Such. He was an original. As a founding member of Bon Jovi, Alec was integral to the formation of the band. To be honest, we found our way to each other thru him – He was a childhood friend of Tico and brought Richie to see us perform. Alec was always wild and full of life. Today those special memories bring a smile to my face and a tear to my eye. We’ll miss him dearly."
