A bombshell email has revealed shocking details about the 2016 event when police visited Johnny Depp's penthouse after responding to a domestic violence call involving Amber Heard. The new piece of information regarding the Depp vs Heard trial was leaked on Friday, June 24, amid news of the official judgment being entered. A leaked screenshot of an email between Depp's legal team from Adam Waldman to Ben Chew and Camille Vasquez made the rounds on social media. In the email, Waldman spoke of his interview with Josh Drew, in which he claimed that his ex-wife Raquel "Rocky" Pennington and Heard had waited in the apartment to ambush Depp. The email was about the May 21, 2016 incident when LAPD officers were summoned to Depp's Eastern Columbia Building penthouse. Responding officers testified in the trial that they were called to the residence about a domestic violence incident.

Waldman, who has previously served as legal counsel for Depp, claimed in the 2019 email that Heard's former pal Drew had admitted that his ex-wife Pennington and Heard had lied during their testimonies in the UK defamation trial. If Waldman's claims are true, Heard and Pennington may have committed perjury during the Virginia trial. "Rocky and Amber's sworn stories that she was summoned by an 8:07 pm text to help her with a berserk Johnny was 'a lie,'" the 2019 email reportedly from Waldman stated. "Rocky was hiding in penthouse 5 all along, almost certainly in the coat closet by the front door, which explains both the security guards' testimony that she never came past them and was already in the apartment when they entered and Johnny's that Rocky just came out of nowhere past his right shoulder to go stand with Amber. Super important fact, and I hope he will repeat it. This makes the whole thing a setup and discredits both their testimony," the lawyer added.

The email further claimed that Heard had an extra-marital relationship with Tesla CEO Elon Musk and that they were into "kinky" things. Witnesses for both Heard and Depp had argued in the trial that the opposing party had incited an altercation between the former married couple. Heard and her sister Whitney Henriquez claimed Depp had assaulted the actress, who said she only hit the 'Donnie Brasco' star after he allegedly swung at her sister.

Responding to those wondering why this interview was not mentioned in the trial, Washington DC-based criminal defense attorney Andrea Burkhart tweeted, "It's a prior inconsistent statement. Adam could have been called as a rebuttal witness to impeach Josh. The problem is it might have opened up doors as a waiver of privilege." Attorney Alan Robertshaw from Coach House Chambers also chimed in. "Here litigation privilege applies to any material 'produced in contemplation of legal proceedings'; so that would certainly risk opening up the door. You can theoretically waive privilege in just certain discreet elements; but that in itself can involve a disclosure exercise," he explained.

Waldman was removed from the divorce proceeding of Depp and Heard after he referred to the incident at the apartment as a "hoax" and "ambush" in statements to the Daily Mail, thereby potentially defaming Heard. What's more, the 'Aquaman' star also received $2 million in compensatory damages earlier this month after a seven-member jury found that the statements by Waldman were defamatory.
