Blue Ivy Carter, 9, second youngest to win Grammy Award, fans slam Beyoncé and Jay-Z: ‘Parents did the whole thing’
Blue Ivy Carter became the second youngest person to ever win a Grammy award on Sunday, March 14, for 'Brown Skin Girl' which she won along with her mother in the Best Music Video category. The youngest winners of all time are the country harmony group, 'The Peasall Sisters' who at the ages of eight, 11 and 14, won a Grammy for contributing to the soundtrack of the Coen Brothers’ 'Oh Brother Where Art Thou?'. The soundtrack won Album of the Year in 2002.
While Beyonce and Jay-Z fans were thrilled about nine-year-old Blue Ivy's win, others felt that her victory at the Grammys was just another symbol of how privilege always takes precedence.

A user noted, "Definitely, this is 'rich & connected privilege'. Blue Ivy seems a sweet child, she likes music and dance but she’s not a raw talent. Beyoncé’s letting her play and she’s winning Grammy’s for it, she’s gonna feel like she hasn’t accomplished anything." Another posted, "Blue Ivy be honest. Did your parents help you with your science project?"

For many, however, it wasn't just Beyonce and Jay-Z's parenting techniques that came into the picture. Many were upset that while Blue Ivy has been recognized, other artists like The Weekend, Nicki Minaj and Katy Perry have not got their due. One fan of The Weekend said, "Blue Ivy Carter awarded a Grammy but not The Weeknd? #GRAMMYs #scammys."
A fan of Nicki Minaj's said, "Imagine... Blue Ivy got a Grammy and Nicki Minaj still doesn't...." Fans of Katy Perry also chimed in. One fan said, "Blue Ivy done won a Grammy!! Somebody keep Katy Perry in your prayers."

The other side of the debate, however, was that people should leave a child like Blue Ivy out of these discussions. "I just saw a comment section where people were pressed that Blue Ivy won a Grammy. Are your lives really that miserable that you’re upset a 9-year-old won an award?" A Blue Ivy fan added, "Leave blue ivy alone she’s a child."
Another posted, "Blue Ivy already getting Grammys because of her parents, meanwhile, all I’ve ever received from mine was trauma."
