Will Blake Shelton grow his mullet back? Fans demand old hairdo after 'Austin' performance at 2021 ACM Awards
Iconic country singer-songwriter Blake Shelton stunned everyone with a beautiful rendition of his highly popular song, ‘Austin’, at the 56th annual Academy of Country Music Awards. The musician kicked off his medley performance at the star-studded event with his debut studio single to mark its 20th anniversary.
Despite touching everyone’s heart with the song, fans believe that one thing was still missing during Shelton’s performance: his mullet. For the uninitiated, the musician sported a mullet in the 1990s. The performance made everyone believe that the song would have been better if the singer had his mullet back.

However, the chances of Shelton growing his mullet back can't be ruled out. In a recent interview, the singer noted that the mullet did not look cool on him when he started his professional singing career. He said, "I would have told that kid, 'Hey man, the mullet's not as cool as you think it is.'"
But he has never said "no" to growing his hair back. In March 2020, Shelton announced that last he was planning to grow back his mullet. He said, "I have an announcement. With basically EVERYTHING I had scheduled being canceled for the foreseeable (future) @gwenstefani and I have made a decision together. I am growing my mullet back as a symbol of hope or some s--- like that.. Anyway it’s coming back!"

Last year, the duo appeared on the at-home version of 'The Tonight Show', during which Stefani gave Shelton a "quarantine mullet" as host Jimmy Fallon asked them questions.
On the other hand, there were many who praised his performance and noted that Shelton is undoubtedly one of the legends. One user wrote, “I never thought I’d see Blake Shelton singing Austin on an award show in 2021 but I’m so here for it.” Another user wrote, “Blake Shelton singing Austin in 2021 is a beautiful sight.”

Another user noted, “Blake Shelton singing Austin in 2021 has officially made my life so much better this is one of my favorite songs. I love life.” Apart from ‘Austin’, Shelton also performed his latest song ‘Minimum Wage’ at the event. The song will be featured on Shelton’s upcoming album, ‘Body Language,' which is slated for release on May 21.
Shelton did not just perform at the 2021 ACM Awards, he was also among the nominees. He and his fiancee, Gwen Stefani, were nominated for Music Event of the Year for their popular duet, ‘Nobody but You’.
However, they lost the award to Carly Pearce and Lee Brice’s blockbuster song, ‘I Hope You’re Happy Now’.
