Kelsea Ballerini will turn as a guest judge on 'The Voice' this week, standing in for Kelly Clarkson. While most fans are wondering what's behind Kelly's absence, some have started thinking in a different direction. Kelsea Ballerini is a popular country singer and songwriter, and from what we've seen of the trailer of the upcoming episode of 'The Voice', she certainly has the wit and camera presence to be a more permanent fixture on the show.

While initially, some wondered, if Kelsea would replace Kelly on a more long-term basis, it seems that some fans want a fresh face in another seat- that of 'The Voice' staple Blake Shelton.

Some fans think that Shelton may have outstayed his welcome and Kelsea could be just the change that is needed. One fan on Twitter, "Is it just me or do you think Kelsea Ballerini is auditioning to be the new country person and this is @blakeshelton last season?" Another fan concurred, "Me too, Blake's been on the show for 10 years. It's time to go, focus on his family or his marriage i think"

There have also been a lot of potshots taken at Blake of late, about his 'old age' issues, but we're hoping that it's all just in jest.

Shelton holds the unique record of being the only judge on all 20 seasons of the competition, he has also won the most championships as a coach with a grand total of seven championships. However, it is clear that Shelton definitely has a lot on his plate when it comes to personal business. Shelton got engaged to long-time girlfriend Gwen Stefani, who was also a judge on 'The Voice' in October 2020. However, they have had to put their wedding on hold because Gwen wants her parents present for the wedding, which is proving tough with the pandemic.

Well, while a break may be good for Blake, we hope that a permanent change isn't on the cards, because Blake is the one 'The Voice' fans love to hate and hate to love.

To find out if the end is near for Blake on the show, and whether it's just beginning for Kelsea Ballerini catch the latest episodes of 'The Voice' on Mondays 8/7c on @NBC.
