South Korean all-girl gang Blackpink’s first full-length album has just hit the Internet but before the sales figures arrive in a day or two, the project was already breaking records. The new project by the four-member K-pop group, titled ‘The Album’, had surpassed one million stock pre-orders most recently. According to Soompi, YG Entertainment had confirmed the big news revealing that this was the highest number of stock pre-orders ever recorded for a K-pop girl group.

For the uninitiated, the number of stock pre-orders is the amount of album stock that is produced prior to the album’s release. This number is the estimated demand which is calculated on several factors such as the number of albums that were pre-ordered by fans from all over the world.

As Soompi reported, the domestic pre-orders scored 670,000 units, while the United States and Europe accounted for 340,000 units. In addition, the 18,888 limited edition LPs were sold out early. When combined, the data crossed the coveted one million mark of stock pre-orders. The earlier record of biggest stock pre-orders in Korea was held by Pearl Sisters for their album ‘My Dear’ in 1968, which means the Blackpink also broke a 52-year-old record with this milestone.

The news of breaking records made the fans super excited on Twitter. One user said, “THE ALBUM isn't just an album, it’s a cultural reset, a reason to breathe, and an escape from this cruel world. it's an art, the first gift you open on christmas, a hug from a loved one. it's everything you’ve ever wanted, everything you've ever need.” One user tweeted, “Congrats to Blackpink and Blinks! You guys deserve it!”

One user posted, “THE ALBUM isn’t just an album, it’s an artistic reconstitution, the breeze you respire, it’s a motive for existence, a departure from this atrocious cosmos, an embosom from a cherished one, it’s a moment for history books, a body of finest craftsmanship” One individual said, “I'm no blink but congratulations bp and Blinks! deserveeee! I am anticipating for their album, too, since some songs are composed by the girls. Finally, YG gave them the freedom to produce their own music and I know that it'll be a bop since they are talented. STREAM LSG by BP!”

Looking at this record, it won’t come as a surprise if the group’s new project breaks several records within a few days of the release.

The band comprises of four members namely Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa and Rose. Talking about the process of their new album, Rose spilled the beans to Billboard in September. She said, “I think it's made us more focused into completing the album and making it the best thing we can give to our fans, and perfecting it and everything. And so, I feel like this album could get a lot of light and energy to everybody being stuck at home not knowing what to do hopefully this can cheer them up.”
