Blackpink surprise fans with comeback, new single on June 26 but Blinks can't get over the 'ugly' poster
K-pop girl group Blackpink has set hearts racing on social media with a surprise post. It's the season of comebacks as the band members — Jennie Kim, Rosé, Lisa and Jisoo — teased a poster of their upcoming single. Last seen in their smash hit single 'Kill This Love' and the recent collaboration 'Sour Candy' in Lady Gaga's studio album 'Chromatica', Blackpink's new song will be out on June 26 at 6 pm KST.
"#BLACKPINK COMEBACK TEASER POSTER. Pre-Release Single - 2020.06.26 6PM," the tweet read. No sooner was it posted, it collected almost 130,000 retweets and 130,000 likes. More details about the single are yet to be revealed and Blinks can't stop talking about it. "Blinks we finally got a date!!! Blackpink is coming back on the 26th @ygofficialblink," one tweet read. "HELPPPP I CANT BREATHE," one fan posted after the announcement. Another said, "BLACKPINK eating charts from this June to rest of 2020, let's goooooo."
The excitement levels are high but many didn't quite like the poster. "Yaaaaaaassssssss finally!!!!!!!! but your poster is not cute," one tweet read and another said, "WHY IS THIS POSTER SO UGLY BUT ANYWAY AAAAA." Some wondered what the concept was. "Still don't know what the concept cause that poster is so-- nah," one tweet read and another said, "Wow they really didn’t try with that Blackpink poster? We really do just take whatever they give us don’t we? I CAN'T HELP BUT STAN !!"
However, some still stood by their side. One fan tweeted, "It’s so refreshing to see a poster for a comeback! Look at the previous posts, all youtube milestones (except for sour candy queen)," another wrote, "The Blackpink comeback poster is a real surprise! I just feel that their concept is something futuristic?? Maybe. And the cb is on the last week of june so we are not yet sure of Treasure's debut date. Let's just wait for yg to drop more bomb!"
Reportedly, YG Entertainment earlier assured hardcore fans that Blackpink will have a pre-release single this summer, followed by more album releases and solo projects in 2020. Many couldn't stop talking about how Blackpink is the revolution. "Blackpink is the revolution," one tweet read and another said, "FINALLY!!! A BLACKPINK COMEBACK! THE WORLD IS WAITING FOR THIS."
Getting nostalgic about when they first started following the band, some fans posted about their trip down memory lane. "I know blackpink since I was in 7th grade (2016) and I was also there in KTL & Ddu-du Ddu-du era yet this is my first ever year that i called myself blink~," one said and another wrote, "Blinks I'm really happy to hear that the comeback is Blackpink. So please cooperate with us to succeed in their comeback we are waiting for. So the spirit of blinks."
