All-girl K-pop band Blackpink might be conquering the charts and breaking several records in just four years of their debut but they still might have a long way to go when it comes to scoring nominations at the award shows. If we speak about the latest, the South Korean girl band got snubbed in the nominations for the upcoming American Music Awards (AMA’s) and fans are pretty disappointed for the same.

The Weeknd and Roddy Ricch have scooped eight nods each including the coveted Artist of the Year at the 2020 American Music Awards whereas, Meghan Thee Stallion has got five nods followed by Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, Doja Cat, Bad Bunny and DaBaby with four nominations each. BTS, who had the most amazing year in terms of music, also managed to scoop two nominations in Favorite Duo or Group -Pop/Rock and Favorite Social Artist whereas another South Korean band EXO got one nod in the Favorite Social Artist category.

Expressing their disappointment on the snub at AMA’s, the fans of Blackpink took to Twitter to speak on the matter. One fan stated, “Blackpink got robbed in every single way. they didn't even get one AMA nomination.” Another said, “I don't care about Blackpink not being nominated for an ama award, the queens are coming for Grammys.” Another fan added, “Blackpink wasn’t even nominated! That made it more confusing. AMA only put BTS and other kpop group in the nominees just to get viewers And that is so messed up! It’s even called music awards. SUCH A DISAPPOINTMENT!” One individual tweeted, “how have BLACKPINK got no AMA nominations? not even for social artist?? who the f**k is tweeting about N*C*T more than BP?!” One person supported the AMA’s and asserted, “AMA uses year-round BB metric for nomination, it's purely data-driven, your fandom needs to stop this nonsense whining.”
