'Black Widow' has a new update. Topps Trading Cards took to Twitter to reveal the full costume of Taskmaster, the villain in the Scarlett Johansson starrer which received mixed reactions by critics. The iconic comic book villain was a subject of discussion ever since the first reveal during the San Diego Comic-Con last year and the trailers that followed. While the identity is still a close-guarded secret, the look at the full costume sparked enough opinions on Twitter.

A majority of the fans loved the look and praised the detailing of the suit. "I don’t get why people don’t like this.." tweeted a fan.  This was seconded by a fan who tweeted a GIF of the Taskmaster kicking up his shield. "I actually liked a lot Just look at this scene he looks so badass," the fan captioned the image.

There was also a fervent request by a fan who hoped the character wouldn't bite the dust in the flick. "I really hope he doesn’t die. I really wanna see him come back in future movies, deteriorating in each appearance and slowly becoming his comic book appearance."

And here's an interesting theory from a fan: "Considering he’s always copying the fighting patterns of heroes and also sometimes their weapons (caps shield, Hawkeyes bow), I wonder where he’s getting that sword from black knight maybe? Barton’s ronin campaign? Or maybe he just likes to use swords and I’m overthinking here."

Then there's a fan who's tweet probably puts the naysayers to test. "So many people have been shitting on this mask, but I actually like it. Would I have wanted Marvel to go with a more skull-looking mask? Of course. But, China ain't a fan of that stuff for some reason, and the more tactical look works. I'm not even bothered by the shades," he wrote

Fans expressed immediate displeasure when the trailer gave the first look at the villain and some of them were still unhappy with the detailing. "Where's the cape" was the most asked question when Topps tweeted the image. The skull mask didn't score any points either. "The suit itself is good, but that mask? They messed up," a fan said. A few more tweets echoed the opinion. "If only they made the mask look more skull-like," another fan opined.

Some of them still hoped there would be an upgrade to the character's suit and mask post 'Black Widow'. "I like the costume I just think the shades should go and put more of a skeleton look to the eyes. Hopefully, they change his costume if he becomes a part of the Thunderbolts," a tweet read.  As far as the profanity-filled opinion goes, here's one: "F*****g unrecognizable. Terrible redesign."

Lastly, if it's any consolation, here's a tweet from a fan who's probably accepted what's coming. "He looks bad without the hood but I’ll be honest, It’s way better than 20 Century Fox. They would have given him a Black jumpsuit, Change his character, make him not even close to the Comics and I bet they would make him look like the Grim Reaper. Maybe an undead warrior."

You can see more of Taskmaster when ‘Black Widow’ releases in theaters on May 1, 2020.
