Classic Chuck Norris memes flood social media after Elon Musk jokes like it's 2008

Dogecoin maker Billy Markus, whose cryptocurrency was itself designed as a joke, decided to bring back the Chuck Norris meme trend on Twitter

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Apart from his imposing stunts and praiseworthy acting, Chuck Norris appears to have become a fan favorite for a reason completely unrelated to his professional prowess -- memes on the internet. With several websites dedicated to Chuck Norris memes, there is no dearth of jokes inspired by his charisma on the internet, and Dogecoin maker Billy Markus, whose cryptocurrency was itself designed as a joke, decided to bring back the Chuck Norris meme trend on Twitter.     

Considered by many as the ultimate badass, Norris is best known for being martial arts icon Bruce Lee's onscreen nemesis in 'Way of the Dragon' (released as 'Return of the Dragon' in the US). Apart from being a popular face in the martial arts movie scene of the '70s, and an icon in the action movie genre, Norris is also credited with developing his own martial arts form - Chun Kuk Do (now called the Chuck Norris System) - which was formally established in 1990. The Chuck Norris system is based on his Tang Soo Do style.

Known on Twitter as Shibetoshi Nakamoto, Billy Markus tweeted, "Chuck Norris once threw a grenade and killed 50 people...then it exploded." The tweet immediately caught the attention of several online, including Elon Musk, and Chuck Norris was among the top 10 Twitter trends in the US. Musk's response to Markus' tweet was, "Chuck Norris could recover all the funds from FTX" - a veiled dig at the Sam Bankman-Fried-owned exchange that led investors to lose billions of dollars. 

Twitterati join in the meme fest

There were several others who couldn't help but join in the banter. Board member & Numeration and Rewards Committee member of Almarai, Hosam Alqurashi, commented, "I once heard that death had a near Chuck experience." "When God created light Chuck Norris said, thank you," wrote Twiteratti Nestor Sandoval.

A user posted a meme of Norris with the text, "Chuck Norris can cut through a hot knife with butter." Sharing a meme comparing Norris' shoe heel with 'Avengers' villain Thanos' chin, one user wrote, "People never noticed this detail." "Chuck built the hospital where he was born and delivered himself," wrote another user. Someone else commented, "When Graham Bell invented telephone he had 2 missed calls from Chuck Norris."
