Just like all the musicians were forced to halt their tours due to the unfortunate Covid-19 lockdown back in March, punk rock band Green Day was no different. However, the band’s frontman Billie Joe Armstrong decided to utilise this time and started releasing quarantine covers of various songs by John Lennon, Billy Bragg and the late Adam Schlesinger among others on the band’s official YouTube channel every week in the series he named 'No Fun Mondays'.

Now, in a piece of good news, the lead vocalist has decided to compile all his quarantine renditions into an album with the same name. The 48-year-old singer-songwriter announced the big news on his official Twitter account. "It's Tuesday, but we're thinking about #NoFunMondays!! The full album arrives 11/27. We also have a pretty awesome baby blue vinyl w/ a glow in the dark cover in the webstore. Now, go pre-order it https://GreenDay.lnk.to/NoFunMondays."

The musician’s final quarantine rendition was released in July where he covered Billy Bragg's 'A New England'. Apart from this, Billie Joe also released a cover of Wreckless Eric's 'Whole Wide World' as part of the Amazon Original series in September.  If we talk about a full-length album, Green Day had dropped their 13th album titled 'Father of All…' in February 2020 which was a follow-up to their 2016 project 'Revolution Radio'.

Now, here is all the information you need to know about Billie Joe Armstrong's brand new project ‘No Fun Mondays’:

Release date

The quarantine covers album 'No Fun Mondays' will hit the Internet on November 27, 2020, via Reprise/Warner Records, on vinyl, CD and digital. A different track from the album will be made available on streaming services every week. Additionally, a limited-edition, baby blue vinyl of the 'No Fun Mondays' album, complete with a glow-in-the-dark cover, will also be available to purchase on Green Day's official web store.

Concept

'No Fun Mondays' will see Billy Joe putting his signature melodic-punk spin on the songs that have formed the soundtrack to his life, including classics by John Lennon, Billy Bragg and Johnny Thunders.

Speaking in an official statement, the rock singer said, "While we've all been in quarantine I've been reflecting on the things that matter the most in my life: family, friends, and, of course, music. I figure if we have to spend this time in isolation at least we can be alone together."

The punk rock artiste also dropped the cover art of 'No Fun Mondays' which features a close-up shot of Billy Joe's face with messy hair and both eyes covered with a trippy circle.
