SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA: The untimely death of Big Scarr at the young age of 22 sent shockwaves across the rapping community. Scarr, popular for his track 'SoIcyBoyz', featuring Pooh Shiesty, Foogiano, and Tay Keith, died on December 22 last year, two years after surviving a fatal bullet wound.

Reacting to the rapper’s death, the head of Scarr's label, 1017 Global Music, Gucci Mane had shared photos of Scarr in a post stating: “This hurt…I’m a miss you.” Mane had also reportedly offered to pay all expenses for Scarr’s funeral. However, recent reports suggest that the 'Letter to Takeoff' singer is reneging on his alleged promise.

Say Cheese TV tweeted on January 9 that Mane has allegedly asked Scarr’s family to return his own chains and said he could no longer pay for the funeral. Say Cheese TV attached a snapshot of the social media post put up by Scarr’s sister Alexandra Woods. She wrote, “OMM he [is] not getting [those] chains back!!” Further, she asserted, “YES he asked for the chains back” and claimed that Mane couldn’t pay for the funeral “because his wife['s] birthday coming [is] up.” She hit back at him saying, "N-word you a millionaire Gucci a B****."

Since Wood's social media post went up, it has gained immense traction on the Internet inviting large-scale backlash for Mane. Apart from Woods, Quezz Ruthless, another Memphis star, with a following of almost 90,000 on Instagram, also organized an Instagram live where he can be heard slamming Mane for going back on his promise and allegedly demanding Scarr’s family return his 1017 chains as well.

In the Instagram live, Ruthless can be heard lashing out at Mane. He said, “You ain’t straight,” adding, his words directed toward Mane. “You ain’t getting those chains. You can’t get those chains. There ain’t no way you gonna get those chains,” he continued. Ruthless has time and again referred to Scarr as his brother and the two are known to have shared a very close relationship when the rapper was alive.

Several fans have also slammed Mane for his alleged action. Many took to the comments section on Ruthless’ live and dropped in comments like “lame,” “OMM that’s sad” and “[That] ain’t real Gucci.” On Twitter too, Mane is facing criticism from fans for going back on his promise. "Ain’t no way Gucci had the nerve to ask that boy’s mama to give back his chains," wrote a fan. Another commented, "I hate when people do this though. Don’t say you’ll do something you have no intentions on doing."

Scarr, who died from a drug overdose last December had signed to rapper Mane's record label 1017 Records under Atlantic Records in 2020 and released his hit, 'SoIcyBoyz', in 2021. Scarr’s debut mixtape, 'Big Grim Reaper', was released in April 2021 and peaked at number 25 on the Billboard 200. The mixtape included appearances from Mane, Shiesty, Foogiano, Keith, Enchanting, and Baby K, whom Scarr considered his influence in entering the world of rap music.
