After the unexpected death of Big Scarr on December 25, singers from the music industry have started paying their tributes to the fallen rapper. The 22-year-old made a name through his track ‘Big Grim Reaper’ and had signed a Gucci Mane Records contract.

The artist, real name Alexander Woods, was first reported deceased on Thursday, December 22 by The Shaderoom on Instagram. Later on, the rapper Gucci Mane whose record company Gucci Mane's 1017 Records the musician was signed to, verified his death. Gucci Mane was the first to post a heartfelt message on social media, leading the line for other artists to follow the suit. “This hurt,” Gucci wrote underneath a carousel of snaps that featured the Memphis native, adding, “I'm a miss you @bigscarr.” In 2019, he published ‘Make a Play’ which swiftly gained fame on YouTube and thus began his rap career. Gucci Mane's label signed Scarr in 2020. DJ Akademiks, a 31-year-old Jamaican-American podcaster and YouTuber, posted a memorial on Twitter with the simple message "RIP Big Scarr." At the time, neither the local news nor the police has confirmed the cause of Scarr's death.

His mixtape ‘Big Grim Reaper’ which was published in 2021 and was followed by a deluxe edition the following year is what made him most well-known. Through her Instagram Story, Enchanting, another member of the 1017 label with Scarr, appeared to confirm the information. “Ion wanna talk. Sorry if I don't answer. I just can't,” she posted, adding a broken heart emoji. "My babbbyyy my best friend my son I love you forever & im so sorry. Love you so so much. Know I would do anything for you." Big Scarr, born on April 7, 2000, was raised in the Magnolia community in Memphis.

Big30 joined other rappers in the chorus of mourners for Scarr. On his Instagram story, he wrote, "God work in mysterious ways lil jr my witness we had to pull up on each other you hugged me 3 times we talked about these pills no matter what the situation was we kept our bond tight me you and babyk my homeboys you with dem boys now and you was last in a Hellcat just like they was." His death occurs soon after the deaths of two more Memphis rappers. While Snootie Wild was shot and killed in Houston in February of this year, Young Dolph was assassinated in the state of Tennessee last year.
