After a long wait of five months, the Grammy-nominated rapper, Big Sean, has now finally announced that 'Detroit 2' will land on September 4, 2020.
It's been over three years since Big Sean last released an album. 'Detroit 2' will be Sean's first solo full length since 2017's 'I Decided'. His beloved Detroit mixtape was released in 2012. Eight years later and we’re on the second installment.
Sean teased 'Detroit 2' back on March 25, his 32nd birthday, with a two-and-a-half-minute featuring snippets of songs from the set and it shows him traveling around the city, including visits to the Motown Museum and backstage with Post Malone at Little Caesars Arena last September 29, as well as in the studio working on the album with collaborators such as Young Thug. "To me, it's home," Big Sean says in the trailer. "But I feel like it's more than just a city. It's for real mentality." He adds: "I've been going back and listening to music that impacted me growing up — songs I'd hear on the radio every day but I didn't even realize was only popping in Detroit."
Sean has also unveiled a line of "Detroit 2"-themed merchandise at his online store including a branded face mask.

Trailer
"Detroit 2" was announced in a video trailer featuring Sean, other Motor City figures and a variety of local sites, from neighborhoods to Hitsville, USA.
Sean also released a 3 minutes and 52 seconds long song from the album on August 24, titled 'Deep Reverence' with audio featuring the late rapper Nipsey Hussle.
In the song, he talks about depression, anxiety and suicidal thoughts as some of the lines of the song are, "In high school, I learned chemistry, biology. But not how to cope with anxiety or how I could feel like I'm by myself on an island with depression on all sides of me," and "Detroit, to me, is home but I feel like it's more than just a city, you know?" he said. "It's, for real, a mentality." He further says, "Yeah, I got pressure on me, 7 days a week it's game 7 on me."
