January 17 would have been Hollywood veteran star Betty White’s 100th birthday but as luck had it, the legendary comedienne died on New Year’s Eve at the age of 99 leaving her fans completely devastated. The late Hollywood icon got the tributes pouring in on social media. From President Joe Biden to other prolific stars such as Ryan Reynolds, Mark Ruffalo, Ellen DeGeneres, and Viola Davis among others, a host of celebrities bid her an emotional farewell.
 
Betty White died due to natural causes at her home in west Los Angeles. It is being reported that the legendary actress did not really like living there in her final years. According to the New York Post, a source spilled the beans saying that if Betty had her way, she would have stayed at her marital home in Carmel that she bought with her third husband Allen Ludden in 1978. Since Betty White worked in Hollywood, Los Angeles was more accessible- one of the key reasons she stayed here.

Did Betty White hate the home she lived in her final years?

Betty White’s Los Angeles house boasts five bedrooms and six bathrooms in the Brentwood neighborhood. However, her heart was always at her marital home in Carmel. Shedding light on the same, a source told the New York Post, “She never wanted to leave her home in Carmel, but was forced to for at-home care,” adding, “Los Angeles was more accessible.” 

The source continued, “If she had it her way, Betty would’ve lived and died in that home [in Carmel]. It’s the home she shared with her husband, it’s where she felt more comfortable.”  The ‘Hot in Cleveland’ star’s third husband Ludden died of stomach cancer at the age of 63 in1981.  Betty White’s plush Brentwood home stands tall at the North Carmelina Avenue and is surrounded by lush hedges. Sprawled across 3,029-square-foot, the lavish house was originally built in 1952 and welcomes the guests with a white wooden exterior and yellow shutters.

Betty White was very fond of her marital home in Carmel as she had tons of memories with her late husband there. Overlooking the ocean, the actor’s Carmel house is located on Ribera Road. Spread across 3,600 square feet, the modest place comes with two bedrooms and five bathrooms. The coastal property was purchased by Betty White and Allen Ludden together. Betty White, according to Celebrity Net Worth, was valued at a whopping $75million.
 
Thanks to her humble beginnings in radio and illustrious career in television and films, the award-winning star will always be remembered for her appearance on game shows like ‘Password’, ‘Match Game’, ‘Tattletales’, ‘To Tell the Truth’, and others. Betty also made her name with the help of roles in ‘The Golden Girls’, ‘The Mary Tyler Moore Show’, ‘Hot in Cleveland’ and the 2009 movie ‘The Proposal’.
