BET Awards 2020: Flo Milli nominated for Best New Hip Hop Artist, fans say Mulatto may win but she deserves it

American rapper Flo Milli is surely going places at a young age. The 20-year-old singer-songwriter, who released her debut mixtape ‘Ho, Why Is You Here?', has scored the Best New Artist nomination at the 2020 BET Hip Hop Awards. Flo Milli first tasted success when she dropped ‘Beef FloMix’ in October 2018 in the form of rap freestyle over the instrumental of Playboi Carti and Ethereal's track ‘Beef'.

There was no looking back for the Alabama-based rapper when her freestyle went places on Tik-Tok and Instagram. Her sensational freestyle version also reached number two on Spotify's Viral 50 in April 2019. And guess what, when she dropped the fully-produced version, it easily managed to score 46M streams on Spotify in July 2019.

The moment the news of Flo Milli’s nomination at 2020 BET Awards Hip Hop Awards hit the Internet, people could not help but talk about it. Soon the rapper started trending on Twitter. There was, of course, a lot of comparison between her and another new artist Mulatto, who also scooped the nod in the same category.

One user talking about her BET nod said, "I can’t choose between flo Milli and mulatto. But for some reason I feel like rod wave gone get it cause of that trash song." One Twitterati asserted, "I love Flo Milli she raw af and better than alot of this female rappers now my opinion and crazy thing is yall flow is definitely similar." Another user supported Flo Milli and said, "y’all be annoying as s**t slobbering at the mouth to bring down a black woman she ain’t even been out for TWO years and here we go."

One user said, "Mulattos going to win but Flo Milli should win." One user stated, "Macklemore won a Grammy in a hip hop award. Y’all worried bout Flo Milli & Mullato? Fr??" Another individual posted, “flo milli literally has better lyrics, creativity, and flow. now stop putting slander down my tl before my blood pressure raises."



 



 



 



 



 



 

Looking at the tweets, it seems people are assuming Mulatto might win but they also feel Flo Milli completely deserves it.

Flo Milli signed up with RCA Records in 2019 end. The rapper has been regularly dropping songs for her newly found fan base. Her hit singles like ‘Not Friendly', ‘Eat It Up', ‘My Attitude', and ‘Weak’ catapulted her to new heights of fame.

Speaking of 2020 BET Hip Hop Awards, rapper DaBaby has scooped the maximum nods with 12, whereas his counterpart Roddy Rich is just a number behind in nominations. Megan Thee Stallion and Drake have got eight nominations each. The awards ceremony will be held on October 27, 2020.
