Spoilers for 'Bering Sea Gold' Season 9 Episode 3

The present and the former "Mr Gold", Ken Kerr and Shawn Pomrenke emerge as the clear winners while Eroica skipper, Emily Riedel makes some giant strides in her quest to bring in 300 ounces of gold this season. After two episodes that saw Shawn sweat it out on the inland mines, he manages to get Christine Rose in the water and make up for the lost time by going on an all-out gold hunt. 'Bering Sea Gold' has managed to keep the audiences glued this season, thanks to the new challenges.

Four major characters come into play. Shawn goes back to Tomcod Claim, the area where they hit jackpot the last time they were in the water, and resumes some digging. Experience and intuition come to the fore as he manages to successfully find spots that are potential reserves. He takes multiple checks on the cobble they dig out hoping for the million-dollar element and is surely not disappointed. Shawn fans will be mighty pleased considering this has been a rather slow start for them.

Ken Kerr is currently in the big leagues. That he returns with three-figure ounces of gold each time makes it only harder for the others to catch up as the Myrtle Irene is firing on all cylinders this time around after some spud troubles in the previous episode. However, his Claim 9 might have been depleted after all the mining, forcing him to switch to pilot mode and survey the ocean from the air to find his next potential gold spot.

Emily Riedel has been making her own gains so far. With the help of a rookie diver, Beau, she launches a day-long hunt where the new teammate battles low visibility and some starting trouble in his bid to find gold. The tenacity pays off as he comes up with 19 ounces of gold, four more than their first haul last week. Vernon Atkison fans will have to wait for his arrival in the next episode. Kris Kelly too hires a new hand in Brie Savage, a rookie diver. However, day one for Brie isn't a bright start as she forgets her diving boots much to Kelly and Co's chagrin. But the new greenhorn might produce some results in the days to come as Kelly hopes for her to mentally prepare herself for some grueling underwater time.  Episode 3 sees new characters and results ranging all the way from "whoop-de-doos" to "what a f*****g bummer". It does continue the strong start as it perfectly combines some scintillating visuals and hard-to-hide emotions.

Here's the gold count by the end of the week's episode.
