Filmmaker Kevin Smith, 52, has revealed the details of Ben Affleck's romantic 12-page speech he gave to his wife Jennifer Lopez on their wedding day. The newlyweds first appeared on camera together in 2002 during the filming of the romantic thriller 'Gigli'.

Smith said that Affleck, 50, confessed his love for Jennifer Lopez, 53, in a 12-page speech on their wedding day in August. “He’s one of my favorite writers on the planet,” he told during a guest appearance on the latest episode of 'The View.' “He wrote his vows — they [both] wrote their vows, but he wrote a big speech that he read to her at the wedding, which was breathtaking.” One of Smith's favorite things about the man who played Batman in Justice League is that "he's his own biggest fan, so he wrote like a 12-page speech." “I was happy for them. They deserve it,” he said, revealing that he was “bawling” throughout the ceremony. “Even a cold-hearted robot would walk away from that ceremony like, ‘Oh my god, true love can happen!'” Smith said. “It was a real fairy-tale ending. And [Jennifer Lopez] has impeccable taste, the whole place looked amazing. [Lopez] looked fantastic. They all looked fantastic.”

On August 20, one month after eloping in Las Vegas, Affleck, and JLo, renewed their Hollywood romance 20 years after their first meeting, marrying in Affleck's $8 million Georgia property. Lopez revealed that she entered the church to Marc Cohn's "True Companion," which she and Affleck had initially chosen as "the perfect wedding music" when they were first engaged more than 20 years ago, in a September 1 edition of Lopez's newsletter, ‘On The JLo.’ The artist also said that "The Things We've Handed Down" was played as each couple's children from prior marriages entered the wedding. “The twenty years between those dreams of youth and the adult world of love and family we embraced that day, brought more to this marriage than either of us ever could have imagined,” Lopez discussed the emotional moment. “We weren’t only marrying one another; we were marrying these children into a new family. They were the only people we asked to stand up for us at our wedding party. To our great honor and joy, each one did.”

Lopez revealed that in the days before the party, "all of us" became ill with a stomach illness. "The reality is, I never had a single doubt," she reflected. "Throughout the week, I had a peaceful and comfortable conviction that we were in God's care..."

Due to "excessive media attention," the then-engaged pair postponed their wedding in 2003, but sadly, the two officially announced their split in January 2004. Affleck married Jennifer Garner in 2005, while Lopez married Marc Anthony shortly after. In 2008, Lopez and her husband had twins Emme and Maximilian. Meanwhile, Garner and Affleck were parents to three children: Violet, Seraphina, and Samuel. Ultimately, Lopez and Affleck's marriages dissolved in 2014 and 2015, respectively.
