Video shows guest cut into wedding cake BEFORE bridal couple, thinking they ‘forgot to serve it’

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA: In a recent viral TikTok video, a woman accidentally sliced into the top tier of the bride and groom's wedding cake. The woman, Hailey can be seen slicing the cake and helping herself to the top tier of the same. However, she claims to have thought the host had forgotten to serve it to the wedding guests.

The majority of the cake was already sliced and served to the wedding guests. However, the top layer was not shared. As per traditional customs, the top tier is traditionally saved for the newlywed's one-year anniversary as it symbolizes good luck and prosperity.

Hailey captioned the TikTok video, "My apologies to the bride and groom," and it has since been watched more than 5.2 million times. Hailey was seen merrily dancing around in a red dress with a polka dotted pattern to the music and licking her fingers after placing the piece of cake onto a plate before another guest walks over. She wrote on the video as an explanation of the situation, "Ignoring the brownie table and confidently cutting myself a slice of HER WEDDING CAKE thinking, Uh-oh. They forgot to serve it to everyone." On the right bottom of the video, she wrote in a smaller font, "I know better now. I hate myself." Meanwhile, Hailey also mentioned, "As the bride whose cake this is - she is formally forgiven and has learned her lesson in wedding etiquette."

The netizens were quick to react to the video. One of the users on Twitter said, "Cutting someone’s wedding cake by accident as a guest is crazy. Just say you wanted to ruin the bride’s day and go!" Another user stated, "The guest taking the liberty to cut the wedding cake is extremely wrong. Traditionally the bride/groom cut the wedding cake." Another tweet read, "Also typically the topper of the cake is saved specifically for the couple to have on their 1 year anniversary. it's such a wild thing to do lol." Later another user said, "Why would you be at someone wedding saying you slept with the bride? You go wish them well, drop your gift off, eat some cake, get a phone number and smash one of the female guest."
