'Batwoman' returns to The CW after winter break on January 19. While we see Kate Kane join the other DC superheroes in the 'Crisis on Infinite Earths' crossover episodes, the show will take us back to Gotham where Alice (Rachel Skarsten) lies in wait for Kate (Ruby Rose).

During the crossover episodes, we saw how Kate emerged as the Paragon of Courage and while the Crisis crossover has been back on air since Tuesday, here's a look at what awaits the night crusader back in Gotham.

Since the beginning of the show, Kate has always given too much leeway to Alice because she is Kate's twin sister Beth. Due to circumstances, Beth transformed into Alice, an evil villain, who is set to trample Gotham with the help of her friend Mouse (Sam Littlefield).

After Alice kidnapped Kate and her father Jacob Kane (Dougray Scott) and tortured him before stabbing his gut, Kate lost hope of finding her sister Beth in Alice. She is now sure there is nothing left in Alice of her sister.

This is exactly what she tells Alice when she tries to get Jacob's location from her. In fact, at the end of the episode that aired before the show went on break, we saw Kate has managed to rescue her father and have a conversation with him.

She tells him that she is ready to now hunt down the person who has attempted to create multiple problems for Gotham. Kate was the only one to hold on to the belief that Beth was alive.

Despite her father believing Catherine Hamilton's false evidence, Kate always thought that Beth would return someday. So it will definitely be hard for Kate to go all out against Alice, but the reminder of how Alice broke up Kate's only family that was left, will push her to fight Alice with all her might.

In the last 'Batwoman' episode titled 'A Mad Tea-Party', we saw Alice poison both Mary and Catherine but only provide them with one dose of the antidote. Catherine forces her daughter to take the antidote and Mary, who has lost her mother is unhappy with Kate for supporting Alice despite all the villainous things Alice had done in the past.

The real Jacob is framed for Catherine's murder and arrested, while Mouse, who took Jacob's face at the party manages to escape with Alice after stunning Batwoman. When the show returns, one of the most interesting subplots would see how Mary and Kate's fractured relationship will evolve.

'Batwoman' will return on January 19 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
