Over his 80-odd years in publication, Batman has done a lot of great things that have inspired respect and admiration. But there's one thing about the character that's still made fun of and hilariously so: At the end of the day, he's just a rich white guy who beats up poor criminals in his downtime.

Now before you guys start accusing us of maligning Batman, that is a criticism that has been leveled against the character in the comics. And in real life, it's generated its fair share of jokes among the fans, some of whom have now taken to Twitter to discuss how strange it is that of all the billionaires in the world, none of them have decided to become Batman.

It all started when one fan tweeted, "I have absolutely zero respect for any billionaire who doesn’t become Batman." Continuing in the same thread, they also tweeted, "Not trying to Batmansplain, ya know, just how the hell hasn’t ANYONE done it yet?"

Well, Twitter has had some hilarious reactions to the tweet and here's just a sample: "Are you sure?" One fan asked. "My butler just said to me: 'Some men just want to watch the world burn.'"

"After all these years, who would have ever thought the most unbelievable part of #batman wouldn't be the villains, superpowers, or resurrections?" Another fan commented. "Nope, the most unbelievable is that a billionaire would get their hands dirty trying to make the world a better place."

"Hey, @JeffBezos she's talking about you," one fan tweeted, to which another user replied, "Dude, he's too busy being low key Lex Luthor."

"They do tend to disappear into the darkness when we need them most though," yet another user pointed out.

"Yeah but unless inherited, by the time they become billionaires, most are too old/not fit enough," another user wrote, adding, "I think Elon Musk should at least attempt to be Iron Man."

One fan had a truly brilliant theory about the identity of IRL Batman writing, "I hate myself a little, but wasn't the theme in Batman that no one knew Bruce Wayne was Batman? Like, maybe Richard Branson *is* Batman and the mask is just too good? Anyway, I'll see myself out..."

Which billionaire do you think should become Batman in real life? Or are they all just a bunch of Lex Luthors to you too? Let us know in the comments.
