Sir Barry Gibb, whose real name is Barry Alan Crompton Gibb, is 74-years-old but that is not stopping him to release new music for his loyal fans. The co-founder of Bee Gees, one of the most commercially successful bands in the history of popular music, has announced his third solo album with ‘Greenfields: The Gibb Brothers’ Songbook, Vol. 1.’
The British-American singer-songwriter took to his official Twitter account and shared the big news with his social media followers on Novermber 6. “I’ve dreamed of a project that would bring me together with some of the artists I admire most. This is the album called #Greendfields – The Gibb Brothers’ Songbook Vol. 1,” he wrote.

The new album will host a couple of legendry features from Dolly Parton, Gillian Welch, David Rawlings, Sheryl Crow, and Alison Krauss. ‘Greenfields: The Gibb Brothers Songbook, Vol. 1.’ is a follow-up to his 2016 solo effort titled ‘In The Now.’
Release date
Barry Gibb’s new record will hit the Internet on January 8, 2021, via Capitol. The album is up for pre-order here.
Concept
‘Greenfields: The Gibb Brothers’ Songbook, Vol. 1’ is produced by Dave Cobb and features 12 of the Gibb Brothers’ classic songs reimagined with a number of special guests.
According to Pitchfork, Barry Gibb shed light on his new album via a press release where he asserted, “From the first day we stepped into RCA Studios in Nashville (the very place where Elvis, Willie, Waylon, Roy, the Everly Brothers and so many other legends made their magic) the album took on a life of its own.” He continued, “I couldn’t be more grateful for the opportunity to work with Dave and all the artists who stopped by. They were all incredibly generous with their time and talent. They inspired me more than words can express. I feel deep down that Maurice and Robin would have loved this album for different reasons. I wish we could have all been together to do it… but I think we were.”
Speaking on the same lines producer Dave Cobb added, as published by Pitchfork, “It was truly an honor to work with one of my heroes. The Bee Gees’ first album has always been a staple for me and it was surreal to get to witness the genius of Barry Gibb in the studio—he’s one of the greatest of all time!”
