When did the death hoax start?
Margera's death hoax originally dates back to 2018. At the time, wrestler Hulk Hogan had mistakenly claimed that the star was dead. “Damn Bam I wish you were still with us, I sure would like to hang out again my brother love u miss u HH,” he wrote on Twitter alongside a photo of himself with Margera, claiming that the reality star, who was 38 at the time, had passed away.
However, he realized that he had made a huge mistake and confused Margera with his fellow 'Jackass' co-star and friend, Ryan Dunn, who died in a drunk driving accident in 2011. Hogan also swiftly issued an apology after that, writing, “Got Ryan and Bam mixed up sorry Bam!!! HH.” Soon after this, death hoaxes wrongly claiming the skateboarder is no more started to emerge on social media on a frequent basis.

Who is Bam Margera?
Margera revealed that he had slipped into alcoholism after rising to fame in the early 2000s, on an episode of H1’s 'Family Therapy with Dr Jenn' in 2016
After that, in 2019, he appeared on an episode of 'Dr Phil' and spoke about his issues with substance abuse which began after the death of his friend Ryan Dunn.
In February 2021, he revealed on Instagram Live that he had drunk a glass of wine and seven beers before filming. This revelation made fans worry that he had slipped into alcoholism once more. He was also open about being suicidal in the video and his anger at being dropped from the 2022 film 'Jackass Forever.'
Claiming he was illegally fired from the movie, Margera announced that he was suing to stall the October release of 'Jackass Forever' as he alleged the co-creators forced him into signing papers that ultimately amounted to deep psychological torture. The legal documents said that Margera was suing his co-star Johnny Knoxville, producer Spike Jonze, director Jeffrey Tremaine along with Paramount Pictures, MTV, Dickhouse Entertainment, and Gorilla Flicks for unfairly firing him from the upcoming 'Jackass' movie.
Saying that he didn't have a chance to run it by an attorney before signing the agreement, Margera alleged he was forced to undergo regular drug and alcohol tests, as well as consume an array of prescription drugs. The treatment left him depressed and drained, and also restricted his ability to live his own life, including traveling and other pursuits.
Margera is married to his wife Nicole Boyd and they have a 3-year-old child Phoenix Wolf.
