'Backyard Envy': Garrett confronts Paul for having issues taking orders, hints he doesn't like insubordination

Garrett said Paul would have to go with the decision that he, Mel and James take. This doesn't sit too well with Paul

Garrett Magee has been the go-to plant whisperer on 'Backyard Envy' for obvious reasons. He loves plants and has a passion for landscaping. He brings a unique set of skills and knowledge to The Manscapers (the design firm co-owned by James DeSantis and Melissa "Mel" Brasier), which puts him in a position of authority. Garrett enjoys picking up plants for the projects the team works and is very particular about his taste in them.

But Paul, one of Garrett's teammates who looks into the hardscaping bit of it, doesn't seem to be fully convinced by his abilities. James informed Garrett that Paul and Abe, one of the other hardscaping masters, were chatting about how it's difficult to take orders from Garrett when he's only a graphic designer. This made Garrett extremely uncomfortable and he wanted to confront Paul immediately and asked James and Mel to back him up.

But, he hates arguments and has been keeping from walking up to Paul, hashing it out with him. On James' insistence, Garrett called Paul to have a little chat, during which he wanted to hear his side of the story and arrive at a conclusion. He was not convinced with Paul's answer that he was simply making comparisons about how his (Garrett's) designs differ when he is thinking as a landscaper versus when he has his graphic designer hat on.

Garrett pointed that whether he liked it or not, Paul would have to go with the decision he, Mel, and James make. Will this impact the workflow? Only time will tell. But Garrett should be able to focus on work and not be pulled into personal differences. Probably, take a page out of Mel's book. Mel went for a couple of tests in the previous week and now her oncologist wants to run a biopsy on one of the cysts she found.

Quite obviously, that has her worried but she drowned herself in work to put together a beautiful, Tuscan-themed backyard for their clients. Catch all the new episodes of 'Backyard Envy' Season 2 on Bravo every Tuesday at 10/9c. For more information, check your local listings.
