'Absolutely soul crushing': Backstreet Boys pay tribute to Aaron Carter as brother Nick tears up

LONDON, UK: The death of Aaron Carter has moved Hollywood and many celebrities have come forward to remember the young musician. Carter, 34, was found unresponsive in his bathtub in California. Following the tragic news, tributes started pouring in. Recently his elder brother from Backstreet Boys, Nick Carter, paused the entire O2 Arena in London to remember his brother as he sobbed and was comforted by his band members. 

Kevin Richardson, 51, lead the tribute by saying, "That [last] song we performed is about family. Everyone here — we all grew up together through the highs and the lows…we thank you being part of the Backstreet family." AJ McLean embraced a teary Nick Carter, 42, during their London’s O2 arena show on Sunday, November 6. Richardson continued, "Tonight we have heavy hearts as we lost one of our family members yesterday. We just wanted to find a moment in our show to recognize him," remembering the former child pop star who came into limelight in 1997 with his namesake debut album.

Richardson continued, "Nick’s little brother Aaron passed away yesterday at 34 years old — and he’s a part of our family and we want to thank you guys for all your love, your well wishes and all your support." Howie Dorough then took on and said, "We want to dedicate this next song to our little brother Aaron Carter," before the band started playing 'Breathe' from their 2013 album 'In a World Like This'. The tribute and Nick Carter's reaction were heart-wrenching and the fans acknowledged the emotion. 



 

Fans react to Backstreet Boys' tribute to Aaron Carter

One user wrote, "Seeing all the guys there for Nick when he needs them most is heartwarming but so incredibly sad at the same time, they all struggled to keep it together it seemed. I'm so sorry guys, I wish we could give them all huge hugs." Another fan tweeted, "I have such a heavy heart for Nick in this moment. I have also lost a sibling, and it is absolutely soul crushing!"



 



 

A Backstreet Boys fan wrote, "My heart right now is soo sad poor nick this was a fantastic tribute my thoughts are with the family and Melanie right now and prince." Another user who is moved by Aaron Carter's death tweeted, "Is a shame that people like Aaron and so many others going through their life struggling with mental health issues, drugs, or feeling hopeless, without realizing how many people could care about them or that they can be helped, sadly sometimes is just too late to let them know."



 



 

One user tweeted, "Ughh… This got me crying . This is such a sweet tribute. My heartaches so badly for Nick and his family. You never be forgotten Aaron. Rip." Another user pointed out the sweet gesture by Nick during the tribute writing, "The way @nickcarter looks up to the sky in this video he knows his baby brother is looking over him and loves him despite what they have been through."
