Netflix's 'Away' surprised a lot of its audience when it turned out that it was little sci-fi and a lot more soap opera. The highly melodramatic series focuses on Hilary Swank and her international crew of cosmologists and astronauts on a journey to Mars.

Created by Andrew Hinderaker, the series is a multi-starrer with Josh Charles, Talitha Bateman, Ato Essandoh, Mark Ivanir, Ray Panthaki and Vivian Wu in supporting roles. Here's everything we know about the upcoming Season 2 of 'Away'. Stay tuned for more updates.

Release date

Netflix hasn't renewed 'Away' for Season 2 yet. MEA WorldWide (MEAWW) will update this article when it does.

Plot

Season 1 of 'Away' focused on Emma Green's (Hilary Swank) journey from Earth to Mars. By no measure was it the easiest of journeys as not only did their apparatus fail several times but drama back home never goes away. Emma leaves her husband and teenage daughter behind in order to command an international space crew embarking upon a treacherous, three year-long mission. The way is long and treacherous and Emma will do anything to keep her crew safe.

By the end of the season, Emma's crew lands successfully on Mars. With no renewal for Season 2 yet, Season 1 ends on a positive note. Should 'Away' be renewed, it will focus on the crew's time on Mars and possibly their way back.
