BEVERLY HILLS, CALIFORNIA: Austin Butler, the Golden Globe winner for the Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama award for Baz Luhrmann's 'Elvis', got slammed by social media users after his acceptance speech as many claimed he sounded like the late King of Rock and Roll Elvis Presley. One of many wrote, “He won’t stop talking like Elvis.”

At the 80th edition of Golden Globes on Tuesday, January 10, Butler began by saying, as quoted by Variety, "Oh, man, all my words are leaving me. I just am so grateful right now. I’m in this room full of my heroes. I owe this to a bold, visionary filmmaker who allowed me the experience to take risks and I always knew I would be supported. I love you, Baz Luhrmann. Thank you for believing in me in those moments that I didn’t even believe in myself. I’m so grateful to you. I also want to thank my dance partner, the greatest dance partner I could have ever hoped for, Mr Tom Hanks."

However, many were quick to point out his accent. A user wrote, "Austin Butler ... What the f**k is that accent? You were born and raised in Anaheim, California ... Ain't nothing southern about a bone in your body." An individual asked, "Is that Austin Butler's real voice," and continued by saying, "Why does he sound at all times like he's doing an impression of someone."

Expressing frustration, one wrote, "Austin Butler doing the elvis accent still… someone remove him from the premises quickly PLEASE." However, there were some who explained by saying, "what everyone complaining about Austin Butler’s Elvis voice doesn’t understand is that the most Hollywood thing you can do is create and accent and stick to it."
