After getting rescheduled twice earlier, a new and a final date for the Verzuz battle between musicians Ashanti and Keyshia Cole has been announced. In December 2020, Ashanti first backed out of the Verzuz battle after she tested positive for Covid-19.

The American singer-songwriter had shared the bad news with her 6 million Instagram followers where she posted a text image with no caption. The text image read, “Hey y’all. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I tested positive for Covid-19. I’m OK and not in any pain. I’m actually down to do the Verzuz from my house...we’re trying to figure it out.” The next date was then scheduled for January 9, 2021, which again did not see the light of the day as the event organizers cited the unstable events in Washington DC and the rising Covid-19 numbers as reasons for the postponement. 

What’s the new and final date for Ashanti vs Keyshia Cole?

The official Twitter account of the Verzuz battle made the final announcement for Ashanti vs Keyshia Cole. According to the post shared, the R&B queens will lock horns on January 21, 2021, on Timbaland and Swizz Beatz's Instagram live webcast. For the unversed, this will be the very first Verzuz battle of the year. The official page shared a brand new poster and captioned the post as, “Kicking off the first #VERZUZ of the year with Ashanti and Keyshia Cole Raising hands. Thank you everyone for being patient with us. We can't wait for this magical night. Thursday, 1/21 5PM PT / 8PM ET. Watch on our IG or in HD on @AppleMusic Drinks by @Ciroc Merch by @NTWRKLIVE #VERZUZ” Keyshia Cole also took to her official Instagram account and shared the same on her Instagram stories. Ashanti, as of now, has not shared anything with her fans.

Since the Verzuz battle between Ashanti and Keyshia Cole has been rescheduled twice earlier, it seems a majority of the fans lost interest in the face-off. Speaking about the same, one user tweeted, “AHT AHT! We don’t care anymore. Keyshia won. The hype over.” Another shared, “if something just so happens to get in the way. DO it on LIVE no EXCUSES!!!! We NEED this.” One posted, “The moment is over. The excitement is gone.”

Continuing showing their lack of interest in the newly-announced dates, one individual said, “You’ve rescheduled twice. We don’t want it. Leave Verzuz in 2020. It was fun while it lasted.” Another shared, “all the hype is gone.” One social media user said, “I don’t even want to see the Ashanti v Keyshia cole verzuz anymore can they just move on and find other people to do the verzuz...” while another added, “The Ashanti/Keyshia Cole #Verzuz is happening the day after Inauguration Day. It’s like they don’t want it to happen!”

This is not the first time when a Verzuz battle has been rescheduled. The same happened when Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds and Teddy Riley had to reschedule their Verzuz a couple of times earlier in the year. The first happened when Edmonds had tested positive for Covid-19 and the second time was due to Riley’s many technical difficulties. The Ashanti vs. Keyshia battle follows Gucci Mane vs. Jeezy, which broke all Verzuz records with over 1.8 million viewers.
