Sony Pictures announced in January that it had acquired the rights to the R-rated film directed by Will Gluck, who is also producing it alongside Joe Roth and Jeff Kirschenbaum as part of a deal with Sony and his company Olive Bridge Entertainment. Sweeney has signed on as executive producer via her company Fifty-Fifty Films, along with RK Films' Alyssa Altman and Natalie Sellers.

The makers have decided to keep the plotline under wraps, Sydney Sweeney during an interview with Entertainment Tonight last month shared, Just know the movie is going to be so much fun.
