'We became close': 'American Idol' winner Noah Thompson sets record straight on dating rumors with runner-up HunterGirl
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: HunterGirl returned to the 'American Idol' stage on April 23, 2023, with Season 20 winner Noah Thompson. They're there to support current contestants like Paige Anne, who was given a second chance to perform for America's votes, which will undoubtedly be sentimental for both singers.
In one of the March episodes of 'American Idol,' a singer called Mariah Faith wowed the judges so much that she was chosen to open for last year's winner and runner-up Noah and Hunter Wolkonowski in Nashville. The judges invited Mariah to open for Noah and HunterGirl, who were playing a concert in Nashville the day following her audition. Mariah became tearful, describing it as "the best feeling in the whole world." The former Idol contestants are also the guest performers for the season after previously refuting dating rumors.

'We became a lot closer than the other contestants'
Noah observes the social media discussion about his personal life and, for the most part, ignores it. One rumor regarding the 'American Idol' winner's love life irritates him. According to the rumor, Noah and his longtime girlfriend Angel Dixon (with whom he has a baby child) have broken up because of HunterGirl.
"The only thing that bothers me is people talking about, like, Hunter," Noah said to Evan Paul of Taste of Country Nights, alluding to Hunter, the lady he competed against until the end of Season 20 in May 2022. On the show, they became very good friends.
"We had our trailers side-by-side," the "Stay" singer explains. "That's not something we picked. We became close, man. We talked about how one person was feeling this way ... she was just kind of there for me, and I was there for her. We just became best friends, man."
"What you see there is two friends goofing around. I love Hunter to death. But we are not together, by no means," he says.
"They're good friends," he adds of Angel and Hunter. "Angel, once Angel flew down here, Hunter and Angel talked. They're good friends. People just need to quit. Nobody has done a single thing."
'American Idol' pushed the narrative
'American Idol' is promoting Noah and HunterGirl together. Despite the fact that they are both performing individual shows, they do perform concerts together. The country artists sang together at the CMA Festival in June 2022. The Whisky Jam showcase followed. Hunter, on the other hand, had her own show and was unable to perform on the second night. They also performed together in a concert in Michigan in August 2022.
The pair is back this year as coaches and guest performers on the show.
