'Those results weren't what Dawson wanted': Fans slam Katy Perry for shading 'American Idol' contestant
DISNEY AULANI RESORT, HAWAII: Katy Perry has been the center of 'American Idol' Season 21 viewers' outrage for a while now. The social media has accused Katy of mom-shaming contestant Sara Beth and was slammed for 'gas-lighting' another hopeful contestant, Matt Winson.
A similar incident happened during the second night at Disney's Aulani Resort in Hawaii, when Dawson performed a Billie Eilish song. The viewers accused Katy of 'shading' aspiring singer Dawson Wayne as she admitted she was 'scared' of the singer in an awkward moment. However, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan were instantly impressed with his performance.

Dawson delivered a stirring performance on Billie Eilish's 'Copycat.' The aspiring singer's thrilling rendition stunned both the audience and the 'American Idol' judges. However, Noah thinks he sounded strange, and suggested he bring the song down half a step. Meanwhile, Luke called the song a departure and prefers his voice tender. Luke also called Dawson's performance 'solid.' Lionel agreed with Luke and noted that the risk he took was 'brilliant' and asks the fans to vote.
Katy then chimed in and called his performance a 'dice roll' that took her a minute to get. She noted one of her own career risks and joked about her album 'Prism.' "My whole fourth album. It was a dice roll and I locked in finally when we got back to that moment where you really controlled the room with your voice," said Katy, "And then you went, 'Sike!' and I was scared of you for the first time." Katy further noted with a smile, "I was like, you’re such a nice guy, and all of a sudden I’m freaked out and I love it."
