LA, CALIFORNIA: 53-year-old actress Anne Heche was under the influence of alcohol when she drove into a house at a speed of 100 mph and caused it to burn down on Friday, August 5. Several celebrities have gone out of their way to support Heche, despite the destruction she caused. Alec Baldwin and Rosanna Arquette are among the celebrities who have come under fire for defending Heche.

In a clip he shared on Instagram on Saturday, August 6, Baldwin described Heche as a brilliant lady and urged his followers to give their "support and love" to the actress, who is presently being treated at a nearby clinic and is in a better state.

The actor said, "Hey, I just want to send out my best wishes and all my love to Anne Heche. Anne is an old pal of mine. There's not a lot of women I've worked with that are brave in the way that Anne is brave. "

The 64-year-old actor also recounted how he and Heche appeared in the Broadway play 'Twentieth Century', for which Heche received a Tony Award nomination for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Play. 'The Juror', a 1996 courtroom thriller movie, also had them as co-stars.

"She is an amazingly talented woman. I love you, Anne. I love you and I think you are such a talented person. I hope everything is OK, I hope you come through this. My heart goes out to you," he added. "I'm sorry you had this tragic thing happen to you, and I'm sending you all my love. Everyone, please join me please in sending their support and love to the wonderful Anne Heche. Thanks. "

Many social media users criticized Baldwin for his blind support of Heche, who possibly endangered lives out of utter carelessness.

"What about the people she almost killed? Is she more important? "a user said. Another commented, "Did you see how reckless she was driving and how she hit a building before she crashed? Did you see the RING doorbell footage? She is lucky she didn’t kill anyone. "

Heche starred with Peter Facinelli in the 2021 movie '13 Minutes', who uploaded an Instagram story with her with the caption: "Praying for you and your beautiful family."

Actress Rosanna Arquette wrote in a tweet, "Anne Heche is in the hospital severely burned from a car accident. This is really tragic. Pray for her."

'Big Little Lies' star James Tupper, who dated Heche for ten years and has a 13-year-old son with her, commented on the tragedy through an Instagram post and expressed his hopes for Heche's quick recovery on behalf of their child. "Thoughts and prayers for this lovely woman, actress, and mother tonight. we love you."

Others on the internet, however, slammed Heche for driving at 100 mph into a Mar Vista house and setting it on fire.

She had previously been seen having what looked like a bottle of vodka in her vehicle's cupholder, and she had mentioned consuming vodka with wine chasers on an issue of her podcast that was available shortly before the accident.

'Die Hard' actor Dennis Depew said in a tweet, "She was drinking and driving, and considering that woman killed all those people yesterday on the corner of La Brea and Slauson for the same thing, drinking and driving." He added, "Anne Heche needs to go to rehab ASAP. She'll probably get arrested and charged once they release her from the ER. "

Political advisor Nathan Schneider also tweeted, "She could have killed somebody. Heche needs some serious mental health counseling before she hurts someone."

Heche had struck a barrier as she swerved into an apartment complex's garage in her blue Mini Clubman while frantically speeding in the Mar Vista neighborhood of Los Angeles. Locals flocked to the stranded actress' aid, including one man who yelled at her to exit the vehicle. She disregarded the advice and put her vehicle in reverse, cranked the ignition, and drove away along the road at a brisk pace.

After the initial collision, she was seen on camera and in images appearing confused behind the wheel. An eyewitness also saw her driving with a bottle with a red cap in the car. A few moments later, she abruptly swerved off the road once more, plowed through a hedge, and slammed into a house in the 1800 block of South Walgrove Avenue.

Her car crashed 30 feet further into the house, but the resident managed to flee unharmed. After the collision, she rushed to a neighbor's home for protection and stayed there for the remainder of the day.

In a statement to ABC 7, the neighbor, Roy Morgen, said, "Luckily she didn't get hurt, and neither did her two dogs. She happened to be sitting with them. "

"She was just in the house with us to tell us that the dogs were sitting with her when the car came flying through, and the car stopped like two feet away from where she was sitting," he added.

Brian Humphrey, a spokesperson for the LA Fire Department, stated that the house has now become unlivable, adding that the collision of the car created major damage and ignited a huge fire.

Heche was still awake and able to talk while she was extricated from the rubble, despite the rapidity of the collision, Los Angeles Fire Department Captain Erik Scott told ABC 7 in the wake of the incident. "When we arrived on the scene, we had a solo vehicle that appeared to be driving at a high rate of speed on a perpendicular street and launched through the front yard into the home," Scott stated.

According to Scott, Heche was reportedly stuck in her vehicle while the fire spread, although she tried conversing with them while they brought her out, implying that she was going to be okay.

According to a neighbor who saw the collision and informed NBC 4, police required the use of a crane to remove Heche from the burning car. Before the firemen came to save her, it is believed that she endured the fire inside the blazing car for up to 30 minutes.

Heche was observed writhing on the stretcher before being loaded into the ambulance's back and hurried to a neighboring ICU.

As her car was being hauled out of a hedgerow next to a school in the Mar Vista neighborhood, disturbing pictures showed its burned-out ruins. The actress's vehicle is shown rushing down a Mar Vista street in the door cam footage just before colliding with a house and starting the fire.

According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, 59 firefighters took 65 minutes to extinguish the headstrong blaze and remove her from the car.

Heche is currently safe, according to a family spokesman's statements to People Magazine. "Her family and friends ask for your thoughts and prayers and to respect her privacy during this difficult time," said the representative.

Heche is the mother of two sons: Homer, whom she had with her ex-boyfriend James Tupper, and Atlas, whom she shares with cinematographer Coleman Luffoon.

In a statement to the Daily Mail, 53-year-old Thomas Jane, whom Heche previously dated and with whom she worked together on the television series 'Hung', said, "While Anne and I are no longer an item, today's tragic news was devastating to me and to all who love her."

"My heart goes out to Anne and her two sons. As of right now, Anne is stable and expected to pull through. My thoughts and prayers are with Anne, one of the true talents of her generation. Thank God no one else was hurt," he added.

In 2020, the pair were still dating and had purchased a home together. They had been friends for more than ten years, and from 2009 to 2011, they co-starred in 'Hung' as a bitterly divorcing couple.

Heche gained national attention for her relationship with talk show host Ellen DeGeneres in the 1990s. In 1997, she invited DeGeneres to the premiere of the movie 'Volcano', for which she was flagged by Hollywood.

Most recently, Heche appeared in the action movie '13 Minutes' with co-stars Thora Birch, Amy Smart, and Will Peltz.
