Lifetime’s latest holiday movie ‘Feliz NaviDAD’ has something in store for everyone. Even though it runs high on romance, the Christmas film has struck a fine balance by focusing on different aspects of human relationships. Perhaps, that is what makes the movie stand out and the lead actress AnnaLynne McCord couldn’t agree more.

In an exclusive interview with MEAWW, McCord spoke at length about her role as Sophie in the movie and detailed her experience of filming in a town that seems magically. Asked about essaying Sophie, McCord said after all that has happened around the world, she was “really grateful for my first job coming back”. She further explained she enjoyed being “ light, funny and silly. Sophie was fun because I love that Cameron Diaz, kind of you-make-fun-of-yourself a little bit type of energy as the character.” The actress thanked Lifetime for giving her the opportunity to take up a role that wasn’t too serious.

She couldn’t help but laugh when asked if she can relate with her character in the movie as McCord went on to say, “I'm really awkward actually when it comes to a guy that I like.  I can be super confident in life and work and like everything, but the second I like the guy I'm like, ‘oh, my God! He's right there. Oh, my god, I can't breathe. I should run, I'm gonna run here, I got running’”.

McCord believes what sets ‘Feliz NaviDaD’ apart from other Christmas movies is the “hard” message it has to give away, in terms of human relationships and family dynamics,” she said. Furthermore, according to the actress, Lifetime did a great job with respect to promoting diversity and inclusivity through its holiday movie by showing various traditions and people belonging to different cultures.

While the movie seems to tug at the heartstrings of the audience for its message about love, family, and more, McCord herself is in a bit of a situation on the personal front due to the ongoing pandemic. When asked about her plans for the holidays, McCord opened up, “Well, because of this crazy year things are a little bit up in the air right now. I'm filming my show ‘Power Book 3: Raising Kanan’ for the Starz network and we're filming up in New York so I'm alone at the moment. We're not allowed to travel for Thanksgiving. I do believe we'll be able to travel for Christmas.”

“I'm very torn because my man is in Canada filming for ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ and he's not allowed to leave. I'm not allowed to travel there because I don't have a work visa and we're not married.”, she expressed.

Despite the unfavorable circumstances, McCord’s current project is keeping her occupied. Talking about ‘Power Book 3: Raising Kanan’, she said, “It's a prequel to the original ‘Power’ and it set in the nineteen nineties hip hop of New York and I'm a rather scandalous, young lady.”

‘Feliz NaviDAD’ premiered on November 21 on Lifetime. The full movie is available to watch on Lifetime's official website.
