Even though going to places of worship on Easter Sunday has been ruled out thanks to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the world can still expect some form of cheer through the rendition of numerous spiritual songs performed by the revered tenor Andrea Bocelli on April 12 at 10 am PT.

Known as one of the most beloved singers of his generation, Bocelli will perform a concert at the historic Duomo Cathedral in Milan, Italy, and live-stream the show on YouTube for free. He will also not be taking a fee for this performance.

Since no audience will be allowed at the concert (Italy has been particularly hit hard by COVID-19 cases), Bocelli will be accompanied only by cathedral organist Emanuele Vianelli for the special occasion.

Sacred pieces from the setlist will include 'Ave Maria' and Mascagni's 'Sancta Maria'. The city of Milan, the Veneranda Fabbrica del Duomo, Sugar Music, Universal Music Group and YouTube have teamed up as partners for this web concert.

If you are interested in watching the performance titled 'Bocelli: Music for Hope', it is set to live stream in the US at 1 pm ET and 10 am PT. It can be seen exclusively on Bocelli's YouTube channel which you can access by clicking here.

"I believe in the strength of praying together," Bocelli said in a statement. "I believe in the Christian Easter, a universal symbol of rebirth that everyone – whether they are believers or not – truly needs right now. Thanks to music, streamed live, bringing together millions of clasped hands everywhere in the world, we will hug this wounded earth’s pulsing heart, this wonderful international forge that is the reason for Italian pride."

The singer also had a special word of encouragement for the troubled Italian nation. "The generous, courageous, proactive Milan and the whole of Italy will be again, and very soon, a winning model, engine of a renaissance that we all hope for. It will be a joy to witness it, in the Duomo, during the Easter celebration which evokes the mystery of birth and rebirth."

Besides this performance, the singer's Andrea Bocelli Foundation has started a GoFundMe campaign which will help hospitals purchase medical supplies as they combat this deadly coronavirus, which has already afflicted over a million people worldwide.

"I am happy Andrea has accepted our invitation," Milan's mayor, Giuseppe Sala, said in a statement. "This year, Easter will be very different for all of us. The joyous serenity that usually comes with this day has been greatly troubled by the pandemic we are experiencing. I am sure that the extraordinary voice of Bocelli will be the embrace we are missing these days, a strong, special hug, capable of warming the heart of Milan, Italy and the world."
